AlmostBoring
OK, this has probably been talked about before, but 3DS Max is expensive for a nobody with no prior knowledge of 3D animation/modelling to pay for, especially because I have no intention to make a living off of those two things. I decided to try modding my own armour for Fallout 4, but the tutorials I've found seem to require 3DS and me being a casual, I don't particularly want to shell out that amount of cash when the trial expires, so I was wondering if there was a long time viable solution as a replacement for 3DS Max. TheGodFormerlyKnownAsJohnX
Not really. It's free for a short period if you register as a college student. I have been using a free version since 2012 and I haven't finished college yet.

mdhay
I've had various versions of 3DS Max for university and graduated a couple months ago. They don't check your license and can enter any old email address and name; they don't check. A friend who isn't in uni or college managed to get it two years ago and they still don't know. That said, it could well fall under piracy by many people's definitions so I wouldn't advise that. 3DS Max is a powerful program and there's a reason why it's one of the industry standards, but Blender is genuinely just as good. If you were to use Google alongside the tutorial you could find the Blender equivalent to whatever you might want.
