Propaganda in the Gaming industry.

It's more like gaming is following Hollywood rather than making their own fictional enemies. Nazis, Russian, Middle Eastern and Commies ideas have been there and are one of the most easiest things to sell. Anything that says "America and the West is better than the rest" sells like hot cakes and there is nothing we can do about it unless we convince a developer to make something else, they'll just continue. As long as you realize that they are from the American point of view, you'll have no problem.

@ Brokenergy ... I must agree with you but who else makes really decent games ?

I suppose if Australia was the leader in the gaming industry, then you might just get a lot of the games punting the Land of Oz.

Having said that, I suppose any nation would do that.

I bought the Russian made game "Metro 2033" and it was absolutely brilliant ... my first ever FPS, but beyond them I'm not too clued up

about other countries making games ... although I do remember the game called "Call of Pripyat", the Stalker game being East European.

But which ever way you look at it, any nation that has messed up in the past or is a current potential threat to Western political thought will always

be used as enemy propaganda material.

I remember seeing North Korean propaganda pictures where American soldeirs kill babies and set dogs on women ... so "the other side" have

their spin doctors as well, it's not just the West.

Yes but it's more about modern military shooters rather than Stalker or Metro 2033. If there was a game that explored for example the Viet Cong side of the conflicted rather than America, it would be very refreshing but I fear that it won't either sell well or there will be a big uproar. Australia wouldn't even be a leader as the rest of the public would give them the evil eye. I just hope that the current money troubles move on and developers start taking risks.

I would love a Vietnam game from the view of Viet Cong, not sure my friend would though (Vietnam Vet)

I also don't think a game where your killing Americans as your primary enemy would go over to well.

Fallout 2.

Modern-based shooters, like a game that is based on the 1954-1972 Vietnam conflict. Fallout is based on a post-nuclear war and isn't a FPS.
