JimmyRJump
I believe I meant, it didn't seem as widespread of issue as in the past...()...No you didn't. You dismissed my comment as a fool's observation and condemned thousands of people as impatient plebs with inferior rigs: Yeah I've seen it, that's not infinite, it's just long. So you an the thousands of others are likely just impatient on slower computers...()...Hilarious if you ask me. I've got another PC with an i7 [email protected] on air (Arctic Cooling Xtreme rev.2) on a P67 AsRock Fatal1ty Pro motherboard and 4x2GB of KHX 1333MHz@1811MHz and an MSI GTX460 HAWK running stock and even that rig runs circles around FO4, except that FO4 crashes all the time because of bad optimisaton which results in huge RAM spikes of over 10GB that even ENBoost can't cope with on that particular PC... BipolarOne
One thing that occurred to me. This is the 7th stable install/build of FO4. Then to do that I had to start a new game 40 times or so. 300+ mods on a level 168 legacy-ed (now cheat) character. This was all accepting the fact the game wouldn't be in a final state till after a years time. Then that we were not allowed to mod the game from launch, but we did so anyway. There was vanilla and BETA mixed into it. So maybe 10 installs and 7 builds with way too many new game starts on the same character. The install build and configurations have changed many times. There are still problems an diagnosis I run into, and will have to make changes for. I thought that part just came with it though, if you wanted to play, you would have to work on it in order to do so. What is this mother f***erdom? "b****ing & moaning" agro, disgruntlement, disappointment, and grievance ect, doing inside a fun loving community. I fail to see the point or purpose in busting my balls as a 3rd party to the manufacturer of this product being used as a pastime, in this case by people that are doing the same thing I'm doing, it's just they are not working as hard for it, while playing 10 times more than I do, then blaming me an saying I'm full of s*** basically for trying to inspire them to "quit b****ing and do the work" I'm not trying to be mean. Complaining about something is one thing, getting up off your a** an doing something about it is another. You fanatical maniacs have melted your constitutions with gaming addiction. Then you come at me lacking a general understanding of the computer system and/or the application software for the system. The pairings of technology I've been working endlessly on while you were playing with your mental genitals the whole time in a virtual reality. You know the one you're making out to be more important than the other people here. I tell you all what, how about you go bite a molerat on it's arse. You were not even smart enough to notice that the industry controls you. A huge herd of like minded numb-skulled video game zombies. Pull your heads & hats out of your asses already. AtomForce
Well, glad I'm not alone here, but that's not a good thing - I decided to try something else - Opened Fallout 4Started New GameFinished Character Creation, then exit and save.Go back to old game, It loaded! When it happened again, this time I just loaded that character creation save.Worked again!THEN - THE THIRD TIME - ALL MY SAVES JUST VANISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!EXCEPT FOR THE CHARACTER CREATION ONE!So bizarre. Luckily I love this game enough that a new playthrough was just fine by me.Looks like freeing up savegames by deleting old ones does help the performance. As for starting a new game and reloading the old one, does anyone know WHY this method sometimes works? BipolarOne
There's a select character in the load game menu, switches between character names. Ergo, where the saves went.
AtomForce
I guess I should specify also that I say "forever loading" because I actually went to sleep last night while it was loading and woke up to the same screen - still cycling through slides and tips. That was about 7.5 hours. This is the ONLY time it does this. Every other place loads without a problem. Even Nuka World which I imagine should be WAY more intensive on the machine. It will load for about a minute, and when my PC activity light stops blinking it is pretty clear nothing is going to happen. Trust me, I can be very patient when it comes to this game, but 7.5 hours? I seriously doubt anything is going to happen after that. Also, since posting this, I've reinstalled F4 and restarted my playthrough twice now with the same issue. It's really becoming irritating because I cannot finish the main quest until I get into this stupid little cell. I want to try the "coc" thing, but if it's only going to cause further issues that's a concern.I'm going to try the old trick again, I'm sure it will work, but hoping sometime in the future Bethesda will address this issue. AtomForce
There's a select character in the load game menu, switches between character names. Ergo, where the saves went.My thought too - but no. They vanished. There was only one character save. Not that it was a big deal, but now it seems even creating a new character, it will hold one and the previous will vanish. Even selecting character just the one shows up. :|
BipolarOne
*edit* You must have deleted it, LOL, whoops* Your s*** is partially/fully corrupt. I don't understand what people don't get, about that. A player can focus on eliminating causes of that or fatal errors for example, but the ish can still happen. It's more about probability and the chances of success in getting into the multi-hundred hour play. If it was that important to me, I'd just COC it, but only if I lacked the understanding an ability to fix it or even better avoid it altogether. I'd try to diagnose it and fix it first, after that I'd wipe the lot of it. If you want to test your PC system. That would mean starting a new game in vanilla form with clean up of all files. Speed run that mofo up to this point that Bethesda is getting the blame for this issue. Experience tells me you wouldn't see it happen again, because it's not an issue unless there is something drastically wrong the end user is doing. It's just that they give us the game, and typically we break it some way. In my opinion that doesn't make it an issue with the game or Bethesda's fault. But sure if you want to test it wait 4-5 days for the cell reset an go back, if it still happens, you would go into cleaning the mods, if it still happens it would mean disabling groups of mods at a time until it's partially located, then in a process of elimination trace it down to the root cause. If it was the vanilla game doing this, it would mean rolling back save games until the issue doesn't present, cross referencing that with the time that had passed, what happened, and what types of save games were used. It's just opinion, but I believe the best way is to make a plan. Perform testing on the vanilla game, then add DLC and perform testing, add a ENB and testing for it all. Configuration an settings adjustment, and testing. Then add in mods in somewhat organized groups that would be tested, and then later merged together if possible, only to perform more testing, add more mods, and subsequently make adjustments where necessary. Now it's never fully tested, but tested enough to insure it's a stable build. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but players seem to eventually end up doing that. Also at some point the mods an load order will have to be cleaned of the byproduct of working in the SDK and/or published as masters to clean it if it's particularly dirty as f***. Thankfully though even doing a crappy job cleaning with FO4edit(xedit) does the job of taking a shitty build of FO4, and getting to run stable. That's just the nature of the beast. Large amounts of authors don't even know about sound attenuation or the existence of a Wiki for creating this stuff. Getting them to understand it needs to also be clean, good luck. Large amounts of authors don't even know about sound attenuation or the existence of a Wiki for creating this stuff. Getting them to understand it needs to also be clean, good luck.Actually if you see my first post in this thread, I've been playing it totally vanilla. I've uninstalled, re-installed, verified cache, etc. I'm pretty sure if the game isn't working as advertised and my specs meet the requirements, that Bethesda is to blame. If Bethesda expects all of us to become debuggers on each release they obviously need to make that clear. I'm not the only one suffering from these issues just trying to run the base game with their DLCs. And it was actually worse without the unofficial patch - and I don't mess with ENBs at all. At least not with Fallout 4. It seems all this that you're suggesting shouldn't be necessary to just play the basic game. The advice is appreciated, don't get me wrong, my point here is that this is a lot of information that people aren't going to know just buying and playing the game, and if in fact that's the only way to get it running properly, surely a disclaimer from Bethesda or some built in notes would be nice. BipolarOne
Don't get mad. Wait 4-5 days in the game an try it again. Your saves must of went thru various patches of the game, thus it changed. From that you can either reset it all from cell resets, which take 4-5 days maybe longer, idk sorry man I have to take a s***, ROFL, or rolling back in your save games until the problem resolves itself, because whatever you did, or the patches did to the game has not happened yet.
