Skyrim won GOTY, Best RPG and Best Studio... Aw Yeah!!

Alright guys, If you haven't heard the news, Skyrim won Gam of the Year, Best RPG of the year and Bethesda raked in best Studio. I would just like to point out to IGN and many other gaming websites that rated Skyrim lower than others. In your face!

Yeah I am pretty childish but watching Zelda: Skyward Sword and UC3 get 10/10 while Skyrim got 9.5/10 on IGN I was like WTF?

So I am pretty happy for Bethesda and hopefully, they will continue to make such great games.

LOL GOTY. How many different GOTY awards are there now? It doesn't matter. GOTYs are just like advertisement slots on network television. The person who pays the most gets the best prime time advertisement slot. Or in this case, the person who paid for the most advertisement wins the award. Edited by Kravick

Until one award system gains more favor than another.

And I think the Spike TV VGA's hold a bit more respect than some of the other awards.

Saying all of the awards are the same is just what the losers say to make themselves feel better. ^_^

Because you can't honestly tell me that the "Games Master" GOTY choice is held in the same regard as the VGA's GOTY choice?

It's not.

Considering it didn't really have much worthy "competition" to begin with, it wasn't surprising. That said, Skyrim completely did not deserve it, and Bethesda definitely did not deserve Best Studio. Notice how they totally ignored the PC-exclusive Witcher 2? (note, I don't care who won, and I haven't played nearly as many hours of TW2 as I have Skyrim) Not a single nomination, because the entire concept of "Game of the Year" is based on sales numbers from consoles, not PC games at all. It's nothing more than a glorified popularity contest, and Bethesda had the lead there because they happened to be the most recent big name to sell a major sequel that didn't fall totally flat like the recycled FPS games or Zelda part 57 which relied on people having a console system that actually is less popular amongst the crowd that watches SpikeTV (how many grown men do you know with a Wii vs those with a PS3/360/PC?)

If you pay attention, the trend is appearing that more and more people are ignoring critics' sites and such awards, because we are seeing more often that these things are fabricated, paid off, or outright make no sense (9.5/10! But it has tons of bugs, this part doesn't work, this other part wasn't included, but it will be great in 6 months!)

Agree totally with Handofbane. Skyrim totally did not deserve it, and nor did Bethesda. The game is bug riddled on both PC and console. And yeah, The Witcher 2 not even mentioned, as you say, I think we know why that is.
