The best ' Separated by a common language' misunderstandings.

Start by saying that I don't know if this is the valid place for this, or if there is a valid place for this : haven't seen any 'rule' against it. If it is, I will tiptoe silently away, never to be heard from again. :whistling: ...I lied about the last part.

I've only been posting on this forum for a short time, and already I'm involved in something akin to an international incident. Due to a couple of things. One, being my own particular brand of off the wall humour. The other being the misunderstanding, probably understandable, that arose from said o.t.w. humour, and the offence it caused, even though not intentional.

What I would like to see in this thread are great examples of similar things having happened to other people. Not so that the rightness or wrongness of the contributions can be judged: that would be merely a sterile exercise in score settling. Consider it a little study of the mechanics of social interraction. Though, to be brutally honest I, personally, like to watch accidents happening in slow motion. Not in the Kronenberg sense.

For an example of the above I refer you, humbly, to my thread ' Ancient Noob can't deal with 'friend' concept'. I make no claims as to how this rates on the 'Greatest ...' scale. Just consider it a good ' I can see that ending in tears' jumping off point.

A: To quote the blessed Basil Fawlty- ' I think I may have mentioned the war...' but, unlike Fawlty, I can not claim to have ' got away with it'.

Due to recent events having taken place in another part of this forest, I seem to have lost the ability to put things into an historical context , ie. my memory of world history has been wiped. I think it might be a virus. And it might well be contagious.

My advice to anyone else thinking of contributing to this thread is DO NOT. Simple as that. You, too, might be visited with a similar affliction.

Besides that, it was a crap idea. I shall now put my time to better use trying to figure out why there are black eyes or no eyes on reinstallation of Oblivion. Oh, the humanity: indeed.

'Well... It's been emotional.': the blessed Vinnie Jones.
