Drakhaoul
Well, Skyrim has been out for a month now and I'm starting to run out of things to try (or at least I think I am) so I've come to here some of your opinions on fun character builds. I generally go until about level 35 before I get bored and create a new character. Each character I try to do something different--both in build and in the quests I do. For example my first character was a Mage who I used to pretty much just follow the main story (he's the only character I've beaten the main quest line on), I played him as Heavy destruction/Conjuration. Next I leveled a Sword n Board warrior which was a ton of fun, with this one I did some of the main story along with the companion quests and a TON of open world exploring (I explored every single cave/tower/dungeon I came across and tried to find every word wall). The character I'm playing right now is my Thief, using predominately Sneak, Illusion, Alchemy, and a little one handed/bows. With this guy I completed the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quest lines and I just started working on the Stormcloak line. The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves guild quests are by far my favorite stories in Skyrim so far - really enjoyed them. So now I'm looking for something else to try and I'm not really sure what I want to do. I was hoping someone could suggest a build they enjoyed for me to try out, note when I said build I don't mean give me exactly how many points you put in each perk tree, I just mean a rough description of your characters role (ie, sword n board warrior, destruction mage, etc). I was also hoping someone would be able to tell me some of their favorite quest lines/stories they followed because like I said I like to do something new on each character. So far I have the Companion quests, Winterhold College quests, thieves guild, dark brotherhood and Stormcloak (work in progress), so the only one I really know of off the top of my head is siding with the imperials - which I plan to do on the next character. So give me some ideas and opinions regarding your favorite characters and quests!
Drakhaoul
Anyone try an unarmed build?
Jacina
I'm currently going pure summoning/enchanting, and enjoying all the AI cockups :D Then again I have the patience to wait for my dumbos to maneuver the dungeons...
Thoreai
Well i have tried a pure healing build with a bit of conjuration (first time playing a caster at all in a tes game..waaaw...yeah im that bored).I picked some companion when i was doing quests, he is a typical warrior...sword and shield, i have to say i have a lot of fun, since i have no damage whatsoever and playing on master i have to make sure he stayes alive, i stay alive and also my summon to keep aggroing things plus i throw a paralyze spell here and there when things become messy, some circle of protection....its a lot of work, no pewpew /flex, since i have to rely on others. I cant remember the quest, but it was about this warriors family tomb that some necromancer desacrated, a typical random quest to pewpew, well not with my build..took 40 min to finish that little dungeon as the undead kept swarming us and with my 100hp it was a survival. This build is pure work, not for everyone i guess, but thats what its so fun about it, since the game makes everything easy for you. CloudVvulf
One of the most fun builds I had was a 1handed/invis assassin build. The idea was to use sneak and invis to get up to your opponent, backstab them, then invis again before your opponent's friends could get you. I also had a destructionless mage build that used conjuration/archery as its main damage abilities. Basically it used atronachs and bound bow for damage. InuyashaFE
I'd like to see some sort of unarmed build. Enchanting could be useful, because you could enchant unarmed damage onto your gauntlets, which combined with the Fists of Steel perk...
SickFak
Well if you really want a fun build and not simply an effective "power play" build, then... Try a khajiit unarmed charming protagonist that specializes primarily in sneak, pickpocket, speech (hard to level, but only take the right tree till intimidation) and alchemy. Use archery as secondary skill (explanation below). Remember you're a Khajiit, so no magic. Alchemy is an exception (it shouldn't be magic skill anyways). First of all, you always try to talk your way out through persuasion, intimidation (hence speech). When that is not possible or fails, you rely heavily on poisons you make (hence alchemy) to slip to your targets through pickpocketing or applying by arrows in hostile situations (hence pickpocketing and archery). Otherwise your primary weapon when you must fight is your claws... Occasional use of dagger (your backup weapon just in case) to backstab when the situation allows. First thing you gotta do is go to Riften as soon as possible and get those gloves of pugilist from the ratway... And hilarity ensues... An unarmed Khajiit is... well it's something. If you're gonna try this build, please share your experiences later :) Edited December 12, 2011 by SickFak

Thanks to the other people who commented, however I absolutely despise companions/minions. I never hire mercs or get followers, I just really hate the AI in most games and Skyrim is no exception. They'll blow my cover, step in front of arrows/spells, and just generally be more of a nuisance to me than the enemies themselves. Again thanks for the input but I'll stay away from followers. Drakhaoul
Oh and Sick, do you find the poisoning perk to be worth it? I thought it looked cool so I grabbed it on my Thief so I could poison people via pickpocket, but the damage was very very mediocre. Granted my Alchemy was fairly low... ninga_express
Alteration, restoration 2h warrior with good block, pop ebony flesh and when things get messy close wounds. Someone blocks? block bash. Also try getting all the shouts, lots of fun to be there. Elemental fury dual wield maces is fun but gets old after level 30.
