Winterhold Rebuilt

I can't be the only one who arrived at the college of Winterhold, only to find a small cluster of cabins on the edge of a rift into the sea, and wondered what the old city might have looked like? Was it built of giant stone blocks like the college, or in a different style altogether? Did it have services and businesses unique from the rest of Skyrim? Would people move back if it was rebuilt, and what kind of presence from the various guilds would it have? Such questions can only be asked of those still around from before the collapse . . .

The idea here wuld be to launch a Kvatch Rebuilt - style mod which would gradually construct a new Winterhold to make it a proud city once again, bringing commerce and traffic back through the hold, even re-opening the road to Dawnstar. This would be an enormous task, obviously, but I think it can be done. I personally might not be able to contribute much more than ideas, but if enough people like the idea, who knows where we could take it.

If you have any input on this don't hesitate to reply, I'm interested to hear what other ideas people may have.

How about building it in the air?

like on a huge metal framework drilled into the cliff so it sorta hangs in the airand the building runways, Houses, a market place etc. on it

This was one of the first idea i had when coming into winter hold , seeing as im used to fallout modding it was on of the first things i planned on trying to the whenthe Ck comes out which i hope will be soon . Anyway idea wise i thought that the mages guild could have involvement in helping rebuild the city like somehow raising the land etc..

Kvatch rebuilt was a geat mod and if the player decides to invest money and ressources into rebuilding Winterhold, then it should be possible to transform it into a thriving city. As a bonus, the player should be rewarded with a property on which he can build a nice house with an integrated store which generates some profit per week.

awesome it'd be awesome! although we don't really have "space" to build there...unless we build things next to the sea...in that case some sort of nice stairs in the cliffs would be cool

I think they're talking about a complete redesign of the whole area. Restoring the part that fell into the sea.

That would be truly amazing. Like the Kvatch mod for Oblivion.

I had this same idea so I searched for it and found this thread.

What if the mages used magic to push back the sea and freeze it in a huge permanent magical wall of ice?

They could rebuilt the entire city on the bottom of the ocean floor, surrounded by immense ice sheets holding back the water.
