How to cure custom poison effects?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Quite a while ago have I started a mod that gives bows improvements and arrows poison effects. However, even many updates later, I still don't know how to make the poison effect curable - drinking potions doesn't work. Only the dangerous 'dispelallspells' command.

Recently a user told me it can be cured with a potion for example, if I edit a form list, or add a special keyword to the arrows (or poison effects themselves?). This use did not remember excatly and I have the CK open right now and can't find a formlist and can't find a keyword, so does anyone know how to make poisons curable?

Thanks in advance,

It would help if you told us a bit about the mechanics you used to create these "poison" arrows.

Good idea as the above unfortunately didnt work.

I believe I either made a magic effect from scratch or copied TrapPoisonFFContactEffect. It was a long time ago, but I can send you a screenshot of the Magic Effect.

I then attached the Magic Effect to an Enchantment (5 times for different strenghts of poison), the Enchantments to Explosions and the Explosions to Projectiles. Then finally the Projectiles to the Ammo/actual arrows.

So basically there is nothing telling the game engine that it should regard these magic effects as poisons. Therefore the Cure Poison effect will never work (as you discovered).

There are a couple of options. Do you want a standard bottle of cure poison to remove the effects, or do you want to make custom cure poison spells and potions that remove the effects? How do you feel about editing the vanilla cure poison effect?

Hmmm... well for convenience I would say the vanilla cure poison bottles are good enough. But because the poisons are kind of 'special', I would actually like a specific bottle to be needed for each one (every bottle being a little more expensive).

Editing the vanilla cure poison, only if needed. If I can copy the effect and edit that for the new bottle(s) it should be fine.

Probably the best thing to do is to give each effect that you want dispelled by a different potion a keyword that matches that potion, then when you create the magic effect for the potion give it the same keyword and check the "dispel effects with these keywords" box.
