prolovegirl
The marriage ceremony is nice, isn't it. But it doesn't last long. And the only difference in the game, is that each day, you get 100 coins from some imaginary shop, and an item called a home-cooked meal. Which is nice as far as it goes. (Fable 2 went into marriage too, only with far more things to do.) One future mod that could give marriage a bit more variety would be when we can marry more than one spouse at a time, maybe even have a spouse in every town. Then we could try out the different partners without having to wait until the next game. What do you think of that idea?
ZenMonkey47
Well, it's a nice alternative to paying 500 gold each time your mercenary companion gets kicked out because of quests. Still, It'd be nice to know ANYTHING about the person you're marrying. We have 50 books, but no characters with backstories?
jesusismyairbag
no need for a mod to test em out - they all the same like robots, anyway. Edited December 13, 2011 by jesusismyairbag
SickFak
Unrelated, but 50 books? I read at least 100 by now and still have a lot unread. :/
Pushkatu
This is Bethesda recipe for RPGs. They add a little bit of this, a little bit of that, but never care to spice things up. With each new game, it looks like they are trying, but they fail every time, becouse they are not very good at this? ! They are the best at making open world games however and until Skyrim, they where the best company at supporting their community with tools to mod their games. We shall see what the future holds, there's hope still! Edited December 13, 2011 by Pushkatu

Kultan
Seems like Bethesda takes a look at the most popular player mods from their previous games and adds them as features in the next. It's not a criticism, just an observation. Makes pretty good sense actually. Release a game that can be modded, watch to see what the large player community comes up with, and use the ideas from those that succeed in the next game. urielseptim
. About 500 gold to follower - there are tons of followers that will accompany you for free, or for minor quest. About books - there are hundreds, you can actually download them in kindle format to read even on the bathroom if you like! I endorse!

Uzibeatle
Seems like Bethesda takes a look at the most popular player mods from their previous games and adds them as features in the next. It's not a criticism, just an observation. Makes pretty good sense actually. Release a game that can be modded, watch to see what the large player community comes up with, and use the ideas from those that succeed in the next game. Well, that well may be. But, if so they are doing a half ass job of it. Case in point. Look at the companion mods created for Fallout New Vegas. Two stand out as the best companion mods I ever saw for any game:Willow and Wendy. Willow was even voice acted. Willow had a great back story. Both had wonderful option packs, had full idle animations and all sortsof other features. True, that game was not developed by the genius's at Bethesda, however it was based on the same game engine. Now look at the companions in this game and they can't even hold a candle to the DEFAULT companions in FNV much less the fully fleshed outmods I mentioned above. Hell, the default companions had back story and associated quests even. That is just one example I could go on but it is enough to point out just how sloppy they are and or just don't really care at some fundamental level. Attention to detail is so important. How could any self respecting game developer take so many steps backward when prior examples of how it is done with care areout there already? ? Hmm? From what I can see, they rushed this game out at least six months before it should have been and were unable to put in the features andpolish it deserves due to some time table they set and would not deviate from it. It will take some months but I have high hopes the mod community will fix up the marriage and traveling companions to be something worthy ofthe underlying scheme of the game they threw out the door. Course, this is Bethesda and they have a track record and it is not as if this was not to be expected. It wasn't desired at all but this is what they do.It would appear this is the best they can do and all one can expect from any future titles they may choose to develop. They got me 3 times now and I do feel a bit foolish for handing them full retail price as I had not been surprised at being let down by them. I think I learned my lesson though, next time I can wait many months before plunging in. It will save me money and wasted time.
