Vindekarr
Well, it's been a hell of a year, so what are your pick for best and worst games? and what's improved, the most/screwed itself up the most during 11? For me, the best: Skyrim: Huge open workld game, beautiful worldspace, good combat, good gameplay, huge replay value, huge modability. Forza Motorsport 4: A quantum leap over previous iterations, #4 really did feel more like a generational change than a rehash, and has a superlative combination of playability, accessability, and enjoyability. Saint's Row 3: Shear obsurdity, it's almost impossible not to have fun playing this game-if there's a way, and you have a will, you'll have fun here, even despite some lingering issues and accusations of price-gouging. Halo: Aniversary: An audiovisual re-creation of one of my all time favorite games, HCE: A combines everything good and loveable about Halo CE, with modern software and glittering new graphics and sound, and some new things in the campaign to make it interesting. But moreover, it keeps the exact same feeling as the original had in '01, which is simply a remarkable achievement considering the fact it looks nothing like the original. Most improved: EVE Online Incursion > Incarna > Crucible. A venerable and ancient PVP mmo, EVE Online has set about totaly re-inventing itself, Halo Aniversary style, replacing it's aging tech with brand new hardware. The result is phenominal-you'd never guess EVE's age unless you knew, and the gameplay is only getting better. And with another major do-over schedualed in the next few months, EVE is coming back with avengeance. The worst: Overall? APB Reloaded: Oh where to do I begin! Never before have I played a more obcenely bad game. I've been spoiled for games recently, to be sure, but this one really takes the cake. It's like a cockroach-disgusting and worthy only of stomping upon. Astonishingly, Powerfuly Bad. Runners up: MW-3. Simple really, it's the same game, yet it's got an even worse(somehow) community and is even more expensive yet... BattleField 3: Most unreliable game I've played in many a year, I only got into a handful of games, and was even unable to finish the campaign due to huge glitches, usualy in the form of the game getting stuck in a neverending loading cycle that goes on for tens of hours. Bugger'edfield. WarHammer 40,000: Space Marine. An absolute travesty of justice: Relic's idea of a shooter in the vast, extremely deep WarHammer universe turned out to be Gears Of War except with a truly abysmal P2P internet multiplayer, an hour long campaign, and more bad design decisions and predictability than I'd have imagined possible. As a massive WarHammer fan, am I mad? You better believe it, mate. The Multiplayer was literaly unplayable from Australia-the game chose host by lowest ping, and usualy chose the person furtherest away from the majority of players. Australians often found themselves being hosted through Russia or Britain. Almost as bad as APB. Almost.
Halororor
I agree with you on all except Warhammer 40K: Space Marine. It was pretty obvious from the start it was going to be a Gears type shooter, and I don't know what you were doing, but the campaign is absolutely not one hour long. I clocked about ten hours before finishing it, and I would by no means say I took my sweet time with the game either. The only thing I can agree with is the horrendous multiplayer matchmaking that always got me matched up with players at the ass-end of the world, ensuring the latency made the game unplayable. Another bad game I can add to the list is Dungeon Siege 3. If I hadn't kept myself in the dark about the game, I would have know it before getting the game, but this is not a Dungeon Siege game. This is God of War with a Dungeon Siege skin. I don't know why developers always feel the need to bastardize series' like this, instead of just creating a whole new IP. I might have enjoyed it had the game on the cover matched the game on the inside of the box.

sweet5050
It's funny how Irony strikes, last year, the games that are in the trend are MW3 and BF3, well, look at them now, they got kicked by a fantasy roleplaying game and a open world do all and die game. so for me, the Best is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Saints Row the Third. Skyrim because, its the best game ever made. well, not literally "EVER". but its the best game to play today. Deep Story and Dragons, who else doesn't want that? (maybe mammoths that got eaten by dragons.) Saints Row because it takes your stress away and it is one of the best games ever. you can jump on a jet, drift your way to every corner, and the fun level doesn't wear off on you even 24 hours the first time you've played it. Precisely. That's why I love it-drop in, flip out, chill out.

Beriallord
Best games I played: Dark Souls: PS3 - Sequel to my favorite PS3 game, and it didn't disappoint me.The Witcher 2: PC - Solid game, almost as good as the 1st. Worst: Dragon Age 2: PC - The most dumbed down WRPG I've ever seen. Deus X Human revolution PC - I hate the duck and cover + Health regen FPS type games. Quite a few others I played that were just ok. Edited December 15, 2011 by Beriallord

antonkr
For most disappointing game of the year I would like to vote. Well minecraft. It took itself in too many directions without fulfilling any of them completely. NPCs are still useless at the release. And Notch is too stressed to work, so he is once again on vacation, and when he is not, he is working on his crappy card game that no one really cares about. Can't quite 100 precent agree with Battlefield 3, but well it might be because I have a different view as a fan of the series, but coming from someone that enjoyed both BC2 and BF2, I find it rather good. Vindekarr
Problem is Anton, why oh why do I have to launch it via browser? and secondly, it only even runs games 20% of the time, the other 80% it just loads, forever. And the campaign is even worse, I reached a mission you can't even get past, because of a massive bug. I can't respect such a miserably unreliable scrapheap.
