How can I convert an Intel i3 core using an Intel HD Graphics compute

My Computer is a Gateway ZX6900 Table top with Windows 7, 4 GB RAM, Intel core i3 CPU, Intel HD Graphics. It does not play Skyrim and the computer is less than a year old. Is there something I can do to download a compatability program OR change out something in the graphics system to make it work? If I need to switch out or add some new hardware what would be best?

Thank you for any assistance you can give me. Skyrim is my Christmas Present and I would like to begin playing it soon. Sherrid

Your computer is basically a laptop slapped to a spiffy monitor, not even sure it can be upgraded fullstop and it is not really designed for playing games/3d stuff with the integrated GFX card it has, its more movies/general computer stuff.

Is it possible to change or add a different Graphic card to the intel HD Graphic system? Or would the Intel i3 core need to be replaced as well? They are both from Intel so I do not know if a Graphic card from say Nvidia would work with the Intel i3? If I can change out the card alone I'l find someone to put it in. However if I would have to change both the processer and the graphics card would it be more economical if I just wait severl months and purchase a new computer instead? I really love my huge screen and would like to keep it if possible. In the mean time I'll continue playing older games like Oblivion and DA.

Thank you for any assistance you can give me. Sherrid

Sorry, according to the PCWorld review- "You can't upgrade any bit of the ZX6900-01e's insides", although it has great connectivity for home theater use. It's simply not a gaming computer.

I guess I'll have to save up for another computer. Kinda p***** me off since when I bought this one the guy said it had a

"wonderful" graphics system. I guess when I said "latest Video games" he heard " latest video". But until things change I'll just have to spend my time staring at my Skyrim game drooling like a hypoglycemic diabetic in a chocolate factory. Thank you, Sherrid

I have an Asus K52f laptop with exactly the same specs as yours, and i run Skyrim just fine. Playing at medium quality, with high quality textures and 4x AF. I only get 10 - 15 FPS in most areas, sometimes up to 25. Lowering quality to low/low makes no difference in performance. Only one CTD in over 120 hours.

Here are the things i've done-

- use the d3d9.dll from the Skyrim Performance mod (can't seem to find this on the Nexus now)

- use Gamebooster

- add Skyrim.exe LAA flag

- add Skyrim.exe to antivirus' list of trusted apps and set to not scan files on access

- use a ReadyBoost cache (will help a lot on your system)

- have also made numerous ini tweaks (background loading, multithreading, etc...) but since the game ran fine without them, and they haven't boosted performance much i won't get into all that here.

I never tried running the game without a replacement d3d9.dll, but at first i just used the one from my Fallout3 folder and it worked just fine. I see no difference in performance with the one made for Skyrim.

Hope you can get it running.

I've been having an unrelated problem and after a week of emails, Beth told me this:

Unfortunately, Skyrim does not support any kind of Intel card. In some cases (as with yours) the game does work, but rarely without problems. You may wish to upgrade your card.

Hope this helps.

(P.S. My game works wonderfully, it's the launcher I am having problems with.)
