Qwinn´s Ultimate DAO Fixpack v3 (no longer beta!)

That would interfere with a couple of events in the same way it did in Denerim before my fix. For example, the first time Oghren goes above ground after the King is crowned requires zoning to the Frostback mountains from the Hall of Heroes. If you bypassed it by using the world map from the Orzammar Commons, you'd probably get it the next time you visited the Frostback mountains with Oghren in tow, which could be ages after he's been on the surface and it wouldn't make sense anymore. Probably other issues, thats just the first one I can think of off the top of my head.

Come to think of it, that's additional justification for disabling access to the world map from the Deep Roads, that hadn't occurred to me yet when I made that decision.

Note that there is cut dialogue where if you try to leave Orzammar with Oghren before you find Branka, he refuses to. It makes sense, but I can't tell if it was removed intentionally, and it's so piecemeal that it would take a lot of work to get it working bug free. Maybe I'll look at it again for v4.0, but I'd rather get v3.0 out before trying to deal with it.

Two more for the Circle Tower:

10. (v3.0) When the Broken Circle quest is done, a praying Templar can be found in the Lake Calenhad docks. When you approach, he prays a few lines and eventually leaves the area. If you leave the area before he finishes leaving himself, however, the next time you returned to the docks he'd be found stuck in praying position somewhere between the lake and the exit, forever.

11. (v3.0) Female mage wardens only: Fixed camera not focusing on Zevran during a comment he makes when speaking to Cullen just before meeting Uldred.

More side quest love:

14. (v3.0) "Letters of Condolences": Fixed a bugged condition on one of Morrigan's lines should she be the one to deliver the widows the news.

15. (v3.0) "Letters of Condolences": You can no longer ask for someone in your party to handle delivering the bad news for you if you only have Dog and/or Shale in the party, since they have no appropriate dialogue, causing the conversation to abort prematurely.

Morrigan:

37. (v3.0) Fixed camera not focusing on a non-romanced Leliana when she comments after you kiss Morrigan in public. Credit to squareinc on the Nexus forums for pointing this one out to me.

squareinc, I couldn't find a similar problem in Alistair's dialogue. Leliana's lines following a kiss with Alistair seem fine to me, and preview line focuses on her.

Hmm I guess I was mistaken again. I could have sworn that it didn't work when we played the female character. Anyway, thanks for looking! I play a Morrigan romance on my main save and that's where I noticed it, so I'm glad it's fixed. On another note, have you looked into the possibility of breaking the main Orzammar questline by siding with both claimants to the throne? I know on the Dragon Age Wiki they say this is possible, though I haven't done it myself. Is it something you'll look at?

Also, for the Crime Wave quest, stealing the guy's key to open the chest, there is something that happened to me that I'm not sure if it's a bug. When you go up to him and his guards to steal the key, if you're seen by the guards after talking to him the first time, you'll get a dialogue by the guards and then you'll be teleported to near the Chantry. This means that you'll never be able to walk that alley as the guards' dialogue triggers and you'll keep getting sent back to the Chantry. Is this meant to happen?

I know you've made some fixes to the Crime Wave, but I don't remember reading about that, so I thought I'd ask.

Thanks again!

the first time Oghren goes above ground

Right, I forgot you said that earlier in the thread about Oghren. That's what I get for being posting when tired. Honest officer, I was under the sleep limit ! If only there were a way to craft in camp.

I'm surprised you could still access the world from the DR. I thought it was already blocked off.

Yes, that shouldn't be possible with my fixpack, in fact I'm pretty sure it was patched by Bioware and isn't possible in 1.05 either. According to the scripts that pulled up for me in the toolset (which it seems include the patches), the moment you declare in the Proving that you'll fight for Harrowmont, it immediately shuts down Bhelen's quests, and when you complete Bhelen's quest involving talking to Lord Dace, it immediately shuts down Harrowmont's quests. I could see no way to complete one side's First Task without utterly nuking the other. The bug discussed in the Wiki says that it involves starting the Proving in Harrowmont's name but not finishing it, then doing Bhelen's quest, but that simply isn't possible with the scripts I worked on.

"When you go up to him and his guards to steal the key, if you're seen by the guards after talking to him the first time, you'll get a dialogue by the guards and then you'll be teleported to near the Chantry."

Are you saying that you got the key from him in dialogue, and then tried to approach him again, and always get bounced back immediately? If so, when you go open the two chests that the key unlocks, that closes the quest and Tilver and the guards won't be there anymore after that, so the alley will be open. But the bounceback until that happens is intentional, yes.

"I'm surprised you could still access the world from the DR. I thought it was already blocked off."

Nope, you can still access the world map from the DR in unmodded 1.05. That is disabled in my fixpack v3.0, for many reasons.

In regards to the Orzammar quest thing, after writing that last post, I realized there was one possible way it *could* happen that I couldn't check by looking at the files, and that was - what if you talk to Lord Dace (who won't even appear in Aeducan Thaig if you've declared for Harrowmont first, so that one's covered), then declare for Harrowmont, then talk to *Helmi* in Tapsters second? I couldn't check this in the toolset because Helmi is one of those very unusual dialogues that can't be looked at in the toolset. So I couldn't be utterly sure that you couldn't still complete Bhelen's quest with him even if the quest had already failed. So I just spent 20 minutes fighting my way to Dace so I could test the theory. Nope. If you declare for Harrowmont, you can't talk to Helmi after that (or you can, but not about Bhelen's quest), and if you complete Bhelen's quest with both Dace and Helmi, you can't declare for Harrowmont anymore, so yep, there's simply no way to finish both first tasks anymore.

Ok, wow, Aeroldoth, you get your wish... well, one of them. In campaign_h, I just found this line:

const int LOT_DWARF_MERCHANT_DISCOUNT_EXTRA = 100;

LOT means Lothering. You'd think that was a reference to Bodahn, but no. The human merchant who you can force to stop overcharging was apparently originally meant to be a dwarf - his dialogue file is actually still named lot100_dwarfmerch.dlg and his script is called lot100pt_dwarf_merchant.nss. And Bodahn doesn't have any discount that I know of, so it seems pretty clear to me that this was supposed to be the intended discount - or rather, the way the numbers work, his markup gets set to 100%, meaning he would sell items at their base value, with no markup to you at all. So - yeah. His discount's going to be pretty darn hefty now.

17. (v3.0) The Unscrupulous Merchant in Lothering promises you a discount if you help him, but you get no better prices from him than if you sided against him. I found reference to what the discount was supposed to be in the game files. It's actually pretty substantial - his markup over the base prices will now be reduced to zero (from 60%) if he gives you his discount.

I'm pretty sure that Bodahn also mentions a discount, though IIRC his markup is 50%, so not that great. But then, I think every merchant says they offer you discounts, so.... who knows. Cool find though!

As to the dual king thing... I'm using your pack 2.0 . I started with Bhelen, spoke with Dace but not Helmi (so didn't finish Vartag's message quest), then went to the Provings and declared for Harrowmont. Then went to Vartag and started the betrayal quest.

So to what you said in post 394, I did deliver to Dace and came back with him from the DR, thereby "finishing" him, just not Helmi.

EDIT - just searched thread for hespith and found nothing. In the DR right before you meet her, the game gives little bits of her rhyme as you walk along: "First day they came...". However, 2nd and 3rd day don't appear. It goes 1st day, 2nd day, then skips to 5th day. You can't hear the full chant until you meet her.

Also, when you leave for the next area and fight the ogres, there are two audios from an invisible hespith. Don't know if that was intentional or not.

31. (v3.0) "Drake Scale Armor": If you ever talked to Herren before acquiring your first drake scale, the journal entry you'd get and the next conversation you had with Herren and Wade would both state that you'd already discussed Wade making drake scale armor for you, even though none of the dialogue you can have with them up to that point mentions such armor in any way.

32. (v3.0) "Dragon Scale Armor": The dragon scale has been changed to a plot item. This prevents the exploit of selling it to a merchant prior to "giving" it to Wade, buying it back to reinitiate the quest, and repeating the process for an infinite amount of free armor sets.
