Quite worried about the overflow of possibly incompatible mods

I'm just browsing through the latest mods and seeing a lot of them which are just copy-pasted from the original Skyrim. Mods based on scripts, meshes, textures and so on...

Now, I luckily have never made Skyrim mods back in the day while I played it, so all the ideas I have will be based on the SE version. I already have a mod in mind that I want to make. But what I'm extremely worried about is seeing all these copy-pasted mods which are probably not compatible with the new SE version. I mean, it's one thing to copy-paste a mod, but leaving the description entirely the same, the known bugs, the info and everything else, just shouts out to my mind that we're getting mods that can pretty much break someone's game perhaps.

For example, the last mod I was checking out had a file version of "2.04.1FIX". I mean, why is this a thing ? Shouldn't it be a 1.0 because Skyrim and Skyrim SE are not the same ?

Another mod, has requirements listed "SKSE", known issues and recommended mods which are just for regular Skyrim...

I was reading through Arthmoor's post about what needs changing and what doesn't. Some meshes need changing, some textures need changing and so on... I'm afraid that some mod authors do not know about this and they're just porting over their Skyrim mods and thinking "Oh well, this will go just fine" and in the end, causing more harm than good for the casual user who just knows how to click "Download with NMM".

So I'm just wondering, am I being crazy here for being worried about this... because seeing a version 3.1312515 for a game that is not out, doesn't sound comforting to me.

Keep in mind, that 1.0 of the skyrim special edition is basically the last version of the old skyrim. So for the most part, someone correct me if I am wrong, most of the mods are compatible. SE doesn't change scripts, at worst old files that add in meshes are just not optimized for the new engine. Which depending on the item added may not be a big deal.

edit: Personally I plan on converting more then a few old skyrim mods for my own personal use, mainly mods that add in new weapons/armors. So it is something I'd like to be more sure of :-)

There was a thread floating around from Arthmoor that laid out how modding SE is gonna work. What needs changing and what might work without alterations.

EDIT: Here it is.

I just returned to Nexus for SSE and went Premium as I always do when I get back into Skyrim and modding. This is a worry though that anyone is being allowed to just duplicate their mods without any testing or indication whether it works or not. Obviously the good modders with beta access have tested and noted it in the description (ie. Arthmoor etc.) but I'm surprised on what is available already which obviously won't work with the new version.

Personally I'm using the Report button on the mods to bring attention to them.

I really think it would be advisable to wait a week or two to let the dust settle from the release before downloading too many mods; unless you know the mod author has done things right prior to releasing their mod (everyone follow Arthmoor's example!). There's too much excitement right now, and it seems a lot of folks are just throwing their mods up here just so they can say: "I had my mod ready for SSE on launch day!"

Oh you don't have to tell me ^^

I have no plans to play Skyrim until the Creation Kit comes out and until some mods come out. I'm quite happy modding Fallout 4 until then. But as I predicted, people on Steam are raging because their games are being massacred with :

- Outdated mods which just got copied over

- Potato PCs

im just some of the few lucky ones along with you that already saw this steam railing its self in. i dont care if they "CLAIM" it would a easy for mods to work normally.. simple mods maybe..

i agree with you i am really worried if all they are going to do is copy and past. but i agree with the other person that they might just be loading them there to upgrade/ update when they come. just wish they make there file "hidden" instead tho.. im walking on a thin line here. i am unloading all my mods with nmm if i can that is since i am sure i have a few lose mods laying around i forgotten all about.. (cz at the time some did not give the nmm option or worse its more inter-graded it.

i mostly hope it fixes my biggest rision i stopped player, dragons stopped attacking me all together.
