Vaz2008
what's wrong with just asking and then moving on or doing it yourself if it's a no.Most likely there wouldn't be a "no". There wouldn't be a "yes". Just endless silence since the original modder flitted away from the site months or years ago and will never check their PMs.that counts as a no. I hardly bother replying when I am just saying no, I just ignore it and delete the PM.That's very mean. Being ignored is far more frustrating than receiving a no. Ghogiel
True, but it is also egocentric, It still counts as 'no you don't have permission' in either case. being butthurt when someone ignores yet another PM or email that probably has the answer in some readme, or just doesn't care is not their fault. Being mean is something else entirely.
magnemoe
Now, I doubt it would be Illegal. Because, modders don't actually own the legal rights to what they make, because they are merely "modifying" content owned by Bethesda. Even if the modder used no preexisting content, the content would undoubtedly be bound by the EULA. EA for example clearly states that no modder can claim copyright owner ship over any content created for or from the Sims. It also states that no creator can profit from said mods, but as we all know there are more then a few paid sites. I do agree that he should ask permission though, because it's kinda a rule within every mod community.....ever. Lots of creators don't request any permission to be given, so maybe he should stick with open mods. If you want to see what happens when mod communities go feral, google 'Sims 3 mods'. It's like a flip'n war 24/7.If it's an modified Oblivion mesh or texture you are not allowed to use it in Skyrim, if it's an original mesh/ texture it's the owners property. Ideas and script is something different, take buyable and moveable furniture, multiple mods have them and the script will require rewriting for Skyrim anyway.
