Looks a lot better than 32-bit Vanilla Skyrim, however lots of pop-in even with everything maxed out to ultra. I haven't tweaked the .ini yet though so I'm sure it can be improved. Water shaders are a mixed bag, textures are mostly underwhelming, godrays are gorgeous and perform a lot better than they do in Fallout 4. Atmosphere feels "thicker" overall. Shadows finally look good in Skyrim which is a godsend. The grass and clutter looks much better, but are still inferior to some of the better existing grass mods out there.

Very stable overall with great performance, but I did have my first CTD around Kinesgrove. Not sure why. I'm using Arthmoor's expansions, but none of the other village expansions gave me any grief. Probably a load order issue but I'm too tired to bother with it tonight.

Overall, its a superior starting point when compared to the original 32-bit version. I really don't think it will blow anyone's mind, though.

Actually surprised on how nice it is. Sure it isn't a major new engine but what they've done was more than I had thought it would. Textures are better but not fantastic, armor definitely is improved in that regard. The TAA addition is beautiful and runs very smooth. Better particle effects, god rays and just overall better lighting makes for a much improved vanilla experience.

First thought was:

1. Oh, my- I can't believe these NPCs are so ugly!! LOL, I had forgotten how wretched they all are, especially the men! And the default skin/body textures are just awful. They seem to be more dirty too from the originals, which is just horrible. Thankfully I've heard the body mod work right out of the box.

2. There was a horse standing next to Hardvar in the opening scene. WTF?! I don't recall a horse ever being there before. Why ?? Am I getting some sort of bug or was that horse there for everyone?

3. Lots of extra grass and plants- would be nice if there were new plants but that doesn't seem to be the case so far that I have seen. Pretty though, especially Whiterun and Riverwood. Love the new water textures, such an improvement. The "god" rays are beautiful, the way they catch the light of objects and then glisten and glow is just lovely.

4. I wish they had improved the lighting. Trying to remind myself to be patient, but I can't wait for the new ELFX to come out. I don't think the improvements on PCs are as noticeable as they are for the poor fools that play on console, since most of us play with heavy graphic/lighting mods. All of the youtube "first look" videos I watched were done on consoles, probably because the PC improvements are pretty underwhelming. Especially the textures- yuck.

5. The game was amazingly smooth and shadows were no longer looking so crappy without tweaks. Yay!

Now I just have to remind myself to be patient. Patience! Patience! Patience!

I'm loving how smooth it is so far. Been running around the Riften area as a heavy armor wearing, spell casting, breton battlemage on Legendary (with the mod that increases player damage to equal that of enemies 3x).

Anywho, I'm surprised that I can play this maxed out with TAA and everything on and set to their highest settings. They obviously improved the shadows, added god rays, etc and basically implemented the changes that were made to the engine when they were making FO4.

The thing that perplexes me the most though is the fact that it DOES run so smoothly even with these changes. The original Skyrim wasn't even this smooth. They actually improved performance.

Meanwhile, FO4 is still awful. It has terrible performance even when I turn all of these things down or off. When I first loaded up Skyrim, I thought about setting shadows to medium, turning off god rays, turning off AA, reducing draw distances... basically using my FO4 settings. But I decided to test it on the default Ultra settings that the launcher set for me and was pleasantly surprised to find the game running at a nice even 60fps both indoors and out.

Can we have FO4 Special Edition now? Please? Maybe tweak the shadows and lighting so they aren't so demanding and update it to use DX12 or something? lol

I am missing SkyUI and iHUD though. Can't wait for those to finally get ported.

The performance seems very good. All settings maxed and sitting at 60fps most of the time at 1440p. The shadows are much better and the volumetric lighting is really nice. I am probably going to wait until the basic texture mods for the world come out, as well as the lighting mods, sound mods, and Perk

mods. The good thing is the potential is there. The base is really wide compared to the original Skyrim so there is a lot to build from. I could see easily handling all my modding needs with 30 or less mods once they are all out and stable. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later.

I've been spoiled by the modders. All I see is potential, but the things that bug me most atm are the inferior indoor lighting, the overly bright nights, and the sounds. Hopefully modders will really embrace this because the potential is amazing. People could still be playing this game 5 years from now and imagine what that

would look like with advancing pc hardware!

My first thoughts were I forgot how ugly and dirty the people especially the elven people were. The game seems to run pretty smooth and the new godrays look great. I have everything set to ultra that will let me and then tweaked things a bit with Nvidia inspector. No stuttering or weird flickers in the shadows. I then tried to fix the ugly people problem by installing UNP for the females and sundracon meshes and textures manually. The seem to work ok in game but I got my first CTD when I tried to create my character as anything other than the basic Nord preset. But ah well half the fun of this game has always been overcoming th CTD monster.

Just cruised part of Helgen. Shadows are smoothed and rounded out. The walls aren't shimmering anymore. Good, good. I'm not really knowledgeable on this, but textures seem to be at low resolution. Some of the meshes are blocky, but some aren't that previously were (furniture). I looted the torturer and got his hood, so it can't be just graphics improvements. Interesting. They'll probably update it. Cool.
