Deleted21304489User
I don't know what the deal is, but I've tried using 3 different mods to replace the texture for the Paradise Falls skill book and none of them will display in my game. I've insured that they are all installed correctly, but they won't work, no matter what I do. This is really mind blowing, as I'm pretty adept at using mods and it's a really simple thing to install. I've also got the same issue with Major Modders food package mod, which has an esp file to replace the junk food box with a BBQ Crisp texture. The same thing... doesn't show up in the game no matter what I do. This has me completely stumped. The really weird thing is that there is nothing about this in the comment sections for any of the above mods, so it's unique to me. Anyone have any ideas as to why these simple texture replacement mods are just not working for me. I'm ready to scream. I can't believe that all four of these mods are messed up some how. it has to be something that I'm doing, or not doing. HELP !! :) It's not archive invalidation either, so don't even go there. raedwald
What mod manager are you using to install these? Also, have you tried to install any other texture replacer's? Raed
Deleted21304489User
NMM, but that's not the issue. I've even tried doing manual installs and the textures still do not show. I use all kinds of textures, but there shouldn't be any conflict, as these mods are esp driven. They would override any other textures in place. Look, I don't mean to be rude, but I'm no noob when it comes to modding my game... at all. That's why I'm here, because this is extremely annoying to me. It should not be happening at all. It defies logic. Thanks for your help.
raedwald
NP. I know how frustrating it can be when that one mod refuses to work. Which version have you tried on the food package retexture? There's a clean and dirty version available. Raed
wizardmirth
I had a similar but slightly different problem in NV recently. The only things I can think of possibly have to do with 1) somehow the save-game is still remembering the old texture if you already entered the same cell as it or 2) you might need a bashed patch or to re-create it if you already have one. BlackRampage
as these mods are esp driven. Indeed? A simple texture replacer doesn't require a .esp to work. Are the textures packed in a .bsa archive or are they loose files? Regardless, probably best to check whether the folder structure and file and folderames are exactly the same as vanilla. How many plugins do you have in total btw? The game engine won't load any .esp driven textures if you're over the 255 (hexadecimal: FF) limit. Deleted21304489User
Thanks for the responses everyone. Especially you BlackRampage. Nothing but respect for you my friend. I figured it out. After running a conflict report and digging through it, I found the culprit. It's the very nice Immersive pick-up sound mod. That sucker is really touchy and must be handled with care. It replaces pick-up sounds of clutter type objects, etc. Problem with it is this. It will inject the sound but delete any mod's references at the same time. Basically, I had the sounds, but it was overriding the direction for the unique textures of the other mods, by not listing them. Load order was the issue over all. Simply moving those texture esp files below it solved the problem. Running a conflict report with FO3Edit is a must when running a huge load order. True story. To answer your question... the textures in question replaced the skill book for the paradise lost skill book (underworld) and the junk food texture (BBQ potato crisps) Both require an esp file to achieve. Each of these are able to be bashed, so no worries in load order bloat. Edited November 4, 2016 by ejroberts49
