Drovak
So basically I played Skyrim for about 50 hours the first few days that it came out then stopped for awhile then got a new computer and installed Skyrim in it and tried to load my save files and I keep crashing as soon as I load. I don't have many save files just the few latest ones because I didn't think it would be necessary to back up the whole save file folder which was really big 1GB+. I was using a bunch of mods and texture mods on my old computer but now with the recently installed game I tried to load my save games and I just get a crash so I thought it would be because I didn't have all the mods from before so I re-downloaded them and re-installed them but it didn't fix the problem the game still cashes when I load any of my old files. I tried started a new game and it worked fine and played for about an hour without any problems but it just wasn't the same...don't feel like I wanna do the same quests and stuff twice. So basically what I need to know if there is any ways I can use my load my old save files again? Here I have included three of my save files maybe someone can load them and tell me if it works for them and how I can fix them so it works in my PC too.http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I4FW5ZC3http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H5BR794Fhttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=6JC7298E
Erenyx
Did you have a custom skyrimprefs.ini on your previous install? If so, you may have had a higher uGridstoload setting, which will cause the game to crash if it is higher than your comp can handle, or lower than what it was set at before. Unfortunately you cannot load a game save that has a higher grid load(view distance detail) than what you're current setting is.
Drovak
Yes, I had changed it in my previous install but now I've change my uGridstoload to 7 (followed this guide) http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/five-fast-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweaks-guaranteed-to-make-your-game-look-even-better and i still can't seem to load it. maboru
That's your problem, saves at a lower uGridstoLoad won't work with a higher setting. There is a convoluted method to try and correct that but the easiest thing to do is set it back to 5 or start a new game.
