Akulakha
Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a great day today. I'm somewhat new to modding myself. When I started modding the original skyrim I went absolutely crazy with it. At first, mods to me meant "expansion packs from players" and I didn't even bother to think about the real meaning of the word "mod" until I screwed my game up with mods that were incompatible with each other. Today on my original Skyrim I have 255 mods downloaded and with very careful planning and reading on all the mod web pages they all worked perfectly fine but I was still hungry for a lot more really cool mods that you awesome people took the time to make and thank you guys so much for doing that as it has made my Skyrim experience that much greater and way more immersive than any other game I have ever played. Now, with the skyrim special edition having been released I'm still really confused as to what it really brings to the modding community. I mean, don't get me wrong, the updates from bethesda look really nice and fluid and the world just looks that much more gorgeous. Still though I always say to myself..."nothing is final and everything can be improved". So I'm hoping someone who is way more educated than I can take the time to answer my questions or recommend a video or website I can take the time to read as I have no doubt that other people might be wondering the same thing. With the release of the "64 bit" version what exactly does this bring to the modding community? I have done research on this beforehand and have heard people say that the 255 mod limit has been removed and has been expanded to 325? Is this really true or was this pure speculation? How do you know what mods can and cannot work from the original skyrim mods? I see that the apachi mods work but what about other mods? Does anyone have any idea? I, personally, have no idea what to look for and all of my mods have done amazing things for my skyrim experience therefore I would I like to keep them if at all possible and continue to offer praise to those who made them. What of some of the important programs that were essential to old skyrim? Such as skse and Loot? Do these all work well with SSE currently and do I just download manually into my SSE folder if they work with the game? Any mods anyone would recommend I try out? I like to download mods that make my Skyrim experience really immersive so anything that contributes to that would be awesome. Thank you so much!! :)

I have done research on this beforehand and have heard people say that the 255 mod limit has been removed and has been expanded to 325? Is this really true or was this pure speculation?Everything I've read says the limit is still 255. As soon as some of us have 256 mods that we want to install, we'll have our answer  How do you know what mods can and cannot work from the original skyrim mods? I, personally, have no idea what to look for and all of my mods have done amazing things for my skyrim experience therefore I would I like to keep them if at all possible and continue to offer praise to those who made them.Any mod that is a simple .esp should work right out of the box. There have been reports of such mods, just look around the SE forums. Anything packaged with a .bsa file is going to have to wait until the SE CK is released, as the .bsa files will have to be extracted and recompiled using that. Any texture mod that uses the .tga format won't work, everything has to be .dds now. Any follower mod that uses a custom .nif file for the head (which is most of them) will likewise have to wait. What of some of the important programs that were essential to old skyrim? Such as skse and Loot? Do these all work well with SSE currently and do I just download manually into my SSE folder if they work with the game?We are patiently waiting on the SKSE team to release a SE-compatible version of that program so all of our skse-dependent mods will work. Until then, our choices will be limited. I believe there already is a SE-compatible version of LOOT out there (not sure though). Any mods anyone would recommend I try out? I like to download mods that make my Skyrim experience really immersive so anything that contributes to that would be awesome.Right now, and this is only my opinion I'm sure others will disagree, I'd hold off on d/l too many mods for SE until the CK is released and the community has time to catch up. Trust me, a half-assed mod is worse than no mod at all  . In the meantime, I know Arthmoor had beta access to the CK, so any of his mods are good to use; beyond that, if you really can't wait, look for mods that people have installed and verified are working correctly in their games. gaultjohn
"have heard people say that the 255 mod limit has been removed" The 255 mod limit is hard coded into the entire system. The only way to remove it is for the Bethesda themselves to alter the code. Was reading a few topics on that yesterday and the conclusion.....no chance that happens. It's set in stone. Hopefully merge plug ins shows up as that worked wonderfully for the 32 bit game as a way to increase the plug in limit. "Any mods anyone would recommend I try out?" I can't recommend "Opening Scene Overhaul" enough. the voice acting is great and it adds a lot to the opening prisoner cart ride. Worth it to just install that and go through the opening scene. I have nothing to do with the mod..just a fan.
