Deleted3465851User
This is an odd problem that I can't find any mention of -let alone a solution for. As the screenshots show; all menus, loading screens, inventory and HUD are running within a different sized space than the game itself.Oblivion menu bug galleryThe pointer, however, can move across the whole screen - which leads to some annoying mis-positioning of the pointer, as you can see on the inventory screenshot (the item hilighted is not near the pointer...) The main menu map is still behind the loading screen in the first, the HUD is in the wrong place in the second and the inventory screenshot shows the problem with the mouse pointer positioning.Oddly, if I play with Darnified UI installed, the settings menu allow me to move the HUD outside of this smaller area it loads in. This does nothing about the pointer mis-positioning problem though. This happens even if I change the game resolution. Whether at 1680x1050 or down to 800x600 the menus load within a different sized area. I have not installed any new mods before this problem occured. It occured after a crash-on-exit (common occurence...) and started the next time I loaded. I have tried reverting to the vanilla Oblivion data as detailed here:tesnexus wiki Revert to vanilla dataBut after doing this and loading from just the Oblivion master esm and nothing else, I still get the problem. Given the problem remains when following the above instructions, I assume it's not a problem with any of the XML files.Which leaves me at a loss as to where to look for the source of this problem. Any ideas how to fix this would be really appreciated. Else any ideas as to where to start looking for the cause would be welcome too.
Nephenee13
Well, that is certainly odd. Have you tried backing up your INI, deleting it, and letting Oblivion generate a new one?
Thebiouch
Hi, I have the exact same problem here , I can't seem to find a solution..I already refreshed my .ini and it doesn't do the trick so if someone or even you came across an answer to this I would be ever so gratefful ;)
Surilindur
Make sure your fDefaultFOV in Oblivion.ini is set to 75: [Display] fDefaultFOV=75.0000Having it set to something else (usually higher) will cause the menus to be messed up like that. For example, that is, there might be other reasons. Also, that was quite the thread necro right there.
Thebiouch
Yes it is set to 75 and I only reinstalled it in case somehow something else was set different as I had checked the fdefaultFOV so I really don't know where else the problem could come from. Thanks for your reply anyway as it is indeed a dead thread :sMight be the only remaining guy with this issue..Gotta give credit to the community though Edited June 29, 2016 by Thebiouch
Surilindur
Do you have a mod that changes FOV somehow? Are you sure you have edited the right ini file (the one in My Documents -> My Games -> Oblivion and not the one in game folder)? If you use Mod Organizer, you will have your ini in the MO profile's folder. Edit: Just a few ideas. Because it should be fixable, and the only time I have ever run into that has been when a mod has changed the FOV value in the ini and left it at the modified value. Surilindur
No problem, everyone needs to start from somewhere, so everyone was a sort of n00b once - me included. Also, some might argue it is actually more dumb to keep quiet and suffer than to ask and be helped. Happy gaming.
Mykage
I've just started having this issue as well, I have a alternative loading screen mod on as well as Darn UI. I assumed it was one of those two, but after reading this very helpful thread i may have figured out the issue (At least for me). Im also using Oblivion Reloaded and it alters the FOV seperate from the oblivion.ini. I usually have my oblivion.ini set to read only to keep mods from altering it behind the scenes; but I recently turned that off to adjust some settings in my main menu. Based on what I've read here, I believe that OR altered my FOV in my ini which messed with the loading screen and HUD display. Im going to test it it to conform, but I am almost positive this was my issue. Hopefully this helps further fix this issue dor anyone not having any luck with the other help provided. Also thanks to those who did inpht some helpful info.
