Made a mod to make an NPC a follower & marriage option

So this mod works perfectly fine for me, and for other people that have downloaded it for most it works for them too. But for some of them even for people who run only my mod (no conflicts going on) it doesn't work. All this mod does is change the stats of Hroki, make her essential, marriageable and a follower no other changes so I have no idea how it couldn't be working.

Is there a known workaround for this? Does skyrim not update npc's faction lists instantly? Just want an answer to tell people when they say it's not working for them.

No. Factions are set I believe when the character is created in the game world. If the player has had zero interactions with an NPC (and I'm pretty sure that means not even loading their cell) then these types of edits *may* override the defaults in a game in progress. Otherwise a player's relationship to an NPC seems to be set in stone (or rather, embedded in their save).

I've seen this issue a lot with some of my own mods - the only reliable way to get them to work is a) ensure the edits aren't overwritten in the load order and b) start a new game.
