  1. Well at least you've recognised that mod-authors deserve something for their contributions - even if it's only appreciation. I've given out 77 endorsements so far (I don't mod my game a lot really) and I endorse everything I consider to be well-executed even if it's not something I end up using myself. From the other side of the fence, I do find it discouraging that so many people download my stuff without bothering to endorse it or give feedback. Here's a few stats (and I suspect mine are nowhere near the worst): KS Hairdo's Lite SE PC (Nexus): 27,174 unique d/ls, 1,330 endorsements (4.9%) KS Lite XB1 (beth): 291,042 d/ls, 157,687 favourites, 1,330 ratings (0.5% / 0.8%) KS Lite PC (beth.net): 73,612 d/ls, 50,786 favourites, 371 ratings (0.5% / 0.7%) KS Lite PC (Steam): 8,355 subscribers, 499 favorites, 210 ratings (2.5% / 42%) So out of 400k+ downloads total, only 0.8% have bothered to rate/endorse KS Lite. Now, I'm not in this for the recognition - KS Lite was a personal project that Kalilies kindly let me share with the modding community (and all credit rightly belongs with her, Stealthic Khaos and Shocky) - but KS Lite is long past the point where it fulfilled everything I wanted it to do and I get daily requests for support and additions and spin-offs but these things take time and energy and if 99.2% of people that download my mod don't consider it even worth an endorsement, why exactly would I continue? *Edit* I will say it's important to have perspective though - out of the 3000+ who have rated KS Lite you could equally state that 100% of those people loved it - and 3000 is still a lot of people - I'm grateful to them for their appreciation
  2. It's a nice sentiment but sadly we live in a world where 80% of downloaders won't even give you an endorsement - and that's free.
  3. isalex: Skyrim doesn't *need* to be modded - it's a great game as-is - a true classic. Modding just makes it a different game and you may prefer that but it doesn't take anything away from the original. A team of creatives worked long hours and did the very best they could with the time, budget and creative mandate they were given - show a little respect for their efforts.
  4. Hmm... I've edited Njada for KS Hairdos Lite and didn't have any specific problems with her - I changed her default armor so that she's not wearing that helmet too. I just applied the KS hair from my mod, generated her .nif and tintmask with ctrl+F4, bundled them in a .bsa (after testing) and that was it - no harder than any of the other NPCs. I would check your .esp in TES5Edit though - sometimes stuff like custom tintlayers end up in there that are best deleted.
  5. Hey! If you used my tool then you should be good to go - I looked at your pic though and SSETEMP shouldn't be there nor should steam_appid.txt - installscript.vdf is created by Steam when you install and/or validate an install - it can be removed. This is what it looks like without the Creation Kit: And with:
  6. The latest Steam beta (v1.3) fixes triple-buffered VSync (again!) - I'd suggest people try it with iVSyncPresentInterval=1 and fullscreen mode turned on (disable any driver/Radeon Pro tweaks) and see how it works for them. (Working great here on an R9 285).
  7. Yes, I use Archive.exe to pack my PC archives - I want to know why the CK (using archive.exe) doesn't compress the XB1 files.
  8. Hi everyone, I recently updated KS Lite for the XB1 and PC and there's a *huge* discrepancy between the size of the archives: PC: KS_Hairdo's_Lite.bsa = 146 MB XB1: KS_Hairdo's_Lite.bsa = 189 MB XB1: KS_Hairdo's_Lite - Textures.bsa = 51.9 MB On closer inspection, the XB1 mesh .bsa isn't using compression at all - (the files are 189 MB out of the .bsa). Is there a better/alternate way to packing these other than the Creation Kit? I tried using the .nif optimizer and that shaved 20 MB off (which is great) but still nowhere near the size of the PC mod.
  9. VSync is broken in Skyrim Not sure what's causing everyone's issues but what I can say is VSync's broken in Skyrim SE. If you run constantly at 60fps+ you won't notice it but once framerates dip below 60 it'll instantly drop to 30 - then it'll recover for a bit then back down to 30. Rinse, repeat. To fix that you need to disable Skyrim's VSync then force triple-buffered VSync either through your drivers or (if you're using AMD) through Radeon Pro.
  10. No. Factions are set I believe when the character is created in the game world. If the player has had zero interactions with an NPC (and I'm pretty sure that means not even loading their cell) then these types of edits *may* override the defaults in a game in progress. Otherwise a player's relationship to an NPC seems to be set in stone (or rather, embedded in their save). I've seen this issue a lot with some of my own mods - the only reliable way to get them to work is a) ensure the edits aren't overwritten in the load order and b) start a new game.
  11. I made a tool to restore vanilla Skyrim - it doesn't know or care about NMM or MO though so if you're using them to launch the game there may be issues: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/79329/?
  12. It's a mix - sound fx are .wav, music is .xwm, voices are .fuz (?)
  13. I made a quick video for those that are having problems configuring Skyrim SE/RadeonPro for AMD cards: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8210563/SSE_AMD.mp4 I'm getting an average 50fps (60 inside towns/interiors) at 1080p on a 2GB R9 285 with everything on Ultra except shadows. If you're running a 144Hz monitor, change the refresh rate in RadeonPro and cap the fps to 60 (or whatever works without blowing up) instead of locking to the refresh rate.
  14. The DynDOLOD link works now but the 'DynDOLOD' resources manual link shows me logged in as someone else (Broughladen again - and doesn't trigger the download).
  15. 'Sammyowen's Account' and 'Broughladen' (I think) for me - also trying to d/l DynDOLOD funnily enough.
  16. Heh! I can see we're going to have to agree to disagree - I'm certainly not suggesting that there isn't room for improvement (especially 5 years on from its release) but I still think some aspects of the original assets look great *if* they're well lit - these are crops from 1080p frames - all original assets/textures barring the hair (click the images for full size):
  17. I think people are too harsh on vanilla Skyrim. I run it with an ENB (currently SnowFall - stunning!), Enhanced Blood, Relighting Skyrim/ELE Lite, WATER and KS Hairdos Lite and that's it for the visual mods - I've tried Noble and Skyrim HD and they're great but not a significant enough improvement from the Bethesda High-Res textures for me to consistently keep them in my load order. Same goes for aMidianBorn and other texture replacers - I really respect the quality of the work but then I also respect the quality of the originals. In my opinion, the biggest visual issues with vanilla Skyrim are the lighting (which makes the texturing look far worse than it actually is), the hair (which looked dated when the game came out) and the water (which was shockingly bad for a professional developer even back then) - fix those issues and the game looks a thousand times better. But that's the best thing about modding - everyone has their own idea of what the 'perfect' Skyrim should be and thanks to the mod-authors there's a good chance you might just be able to build your own perfect Skyrim :)
  18. Check your %localappdata%\Skyrim folder - there should be a plugins.txt and SteamModList.txt - they need to have all your mods listed in them for the launcher to use them (although that's always happened automatically for me) - try manually editing some mods in and seeing if they show up maybe?
  19. I manually install all my mods so regard points 1 and 2: 1. Not necessarily - many mods don't have a .bsa, some (textures, mesh fixes) might not even have an .esp 2. Correct but be sure to understand what files you actually need first since many mods with optional components have conflicting assets. You don't state what mod you're trying to install but many mod authors include a manual install readme or instructions in the description - if this one doesn't you can read through the fomod .xml - it's instructions for the installer but if you search for 'destination' you should be able to see where the installer is copying things. When installing something like this I usually make a Skyrim/Data folder on my desktop and copy stuff there until it looks right rather than copying straight into my Skyrim install - I also keep .7z backups of my mod compilations so I can quickly get things back to how I want them if something doesn't work. *Edit* Oh, and don't rely on LOOT - it's a guide, that's all - it's frequently gotten my load order wrong - look at what your mods are doing and apply some common sense as to what needs to be higher (executed sooner) and what needs to be lower (stuff that needs priority).
