Khorak
Doing the Thieves Guild quests is the best non-cheesy way to make money. You'll obviously make a lot of money in the course of the questline, which is actually a very good story anyway and you'll end up with the Nightingale armour everyone orgasms over, but doing the guild improvement quests as well means you'll eventually have a lot of merchants scattered around who will take stolen goods AND have 4000 gold. The 4000 gold is an incredible benefit since you no longer have to faff around trying to sell your piles of loot to merchants who can't afford it without you wasting perks in Speech to be able to invest in them. You can pick up damn near everything in the knowledge you can easily sell the whole lot. Thing is, my current character is a Nord 2H warrior and I don't plan on doing the Thieve's Guild Quest for her... Then you throw perk points into Speech and start investing in your favourite merchant, or continue running around the entire world selling off your vast haul piecemeal. If you're obsessed with gold and don't want to join the people whose reason for existing is an obsession with gold....well, your character will have to learn to set up their own mercantile support network to throw their epic amounts of valuables through, won't they. xlr8films
or continue running around the entire world selling off your vast haul piecemeal. Knowing when the Khajiit appear outside Windhelm (Middas for me in my current game) is the best way: Inside Windhelm you can sell off weaps and armor to the blacksmith, then visit the catch-all dark elf woman with a stall right across from him, then the alchemy across from her, then another catch-all spot across town (dark elf guy) THEN go outside and finish with the Khajiit. (It also helps if you have a wife in Hjerim!) You'll walk away with A LOT of gold. Then you can wait a couple days, go back in (or a week for the Khajiit) and repeat. It really isn't difficult at all unless you have like ADD or something. Jack n Coke are all I need. :whistling: Edited December 21, 2011 by xlr8films
Seviche
I hear that investing with the merchant in Riverwood really ups his available gold. To the tune of 11k. Too bad you can't buy a house there. Yet.
SpellAndShield
enchanting(Talos knows how much this'd get you) Two iron daggers enchanted with petty banish cost more than what any merchant can pay for. The problem with banish is that you only rarely come across it, hit or miss.
SpellAndShield
It's a bit slower but turning steel plate armour into legendary with smithing fortifications is making me some decent cash.
gantech
I'm only level 14 so if the merchants don't have the money, who do you sell the potions to?
MagusShade
I think that someone should make a Mod that allows for the purchase of empty properties. For instance, if the merchant and his family go "Mysteriously Missing" or they get Murdered but there are no suspects, I think that his store should go up for sale, so a respectable entrepreneur like me can snatch it up and start selling my items to random townsfolk. Could even make it so you get 70% of what you're selling the item for, with the other 30% being for the Wages of the person you hire to run the store for you. Should also be able to buy empty houses and a)rent them out and b) live in them like you can in the current buyable houses. This would add a waaay more awesome economy to the game. I think ima go post this is the Requested Mods Section now xD
TimF
enchanting(Talos knows how much this'd get you) Two iron daggers enchanted with petty banish cost more than what any merchant can pay for. The problem with banish is that you only rarely come across it, hit or miss. Simply check the stores. They'll certainly have a banishment-enchanted piece soon enough. Then buy it no matter what the cost.
xlr8films
I'm only level 14 so if the merchants don't have the money, who do you sell the potions to? The catch-all merchies, alchemists, and Khajiit. Getting a wife doesn't hurt, either.
