I suddenly hate all other games

Before Skyrim I used to play different kind of games. Some strategy, FPS and a little Drake style action. I played a variety of games, some on PC and some on PS3. Now I had not heard of Skyrim until 3 weeks ago. The biggest release in November that I was looking out for was Battlefield 3. I went to the store checked it out and I loved it. I couldnt buy it cause I didn't have the money. 3 weeks ago my brother told me he had bought Battlefield 3. So I was jumping around and I told him to bring it around next week.

Then I started playing Skyrim. For 2 weeks I played a lot of it. A week ago my brother came and I told him I didn't want Battlefield 3. He kinda fainted.

This morning I found myself un-installing some of my past all time favourite games. Now only Skyrim resides in my computer.

What I feel is that Bethesda has created a beautiful, giant world. Even though it is bugged it still has everything. It is totally complete in detail. When I play other games I feel disappointed they don't have all the features Skyrim has. :wallbash: Right now other games suck. And I cant stop myself from playing Skyrim 8 hours a day doing nothing except talking to random people about things I dont care about.

What is happening to me???

Haha, it happens with all forms of entertainment.

I used to be a big game buff myself, but then I got Oblivion on PC, and modded it until it was the best game out. And ever since, I have only played Elder Scrolls. No matter how pretty or cinematic another game is, it just doesnt have the same atmospheric and immersive quality as an Elder Scrolls game. And, there is nothing better than a modded Elder Scrolls game, period.

when you find something amazing, it just recreates your standards, and then it's difficult to find anything that can meet your new ideals.

When I listened to post-rock, nothing else seemed to have the same profundity or substance, when I read Malazan Book of the Fallen, no other book could interest me.

It happens

cant say this has ever happened to me.

sure, i get sucked into a game and will play it non stop. have done it with a couple of games where i just play for days on end. but never have i found myself hating other games. the closest ive come to that, is feeling like i want to play something, but cant find something to play. ill try some games where ive spent all those hours on and it just doesnt hit that spot. usually if i try something i havent played in a long long time, or just take a break from gaming, i can come back and play something.

but yea. even my most favorite games, didnt cause me to hate all other games :P

The Elder Scrolls games are probably the most immersive game series out there. Modded Oblivion lasted me about 200 hrs, modded Fallout 3 lasted me 40 hours, then Skyrim came out. So far I played around 80 hours. I have 2 characters. It happens, yeah. Nothing else draws me in like these games.

I listen to post rock sometimes, yeah you're right about that!

I have just around 2000 hours in my modded Oblivion save  But thats mainly because I roleplay realistically, and therefor take things slow

Kudos + for being like-minded!
