Can someone please tell me what is causing this ***pics included***

So i've been working on making presets, as well as testing over 500 mods, etc. So I have run into this issue 3-4 times now. Basically huge grey/black triangles show up over a large part of the screen. THis happened with a fisherman outside the first stones past embershard mine, from a dragon attacking outside of white run, from khajiit traders, and now a mudcrab. Upon further investigation, it actually looks like what the NPC camera view would be, that its somehow transposing itself into the game and being seen. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something I can do to fix it? Thanks.

Its a texture issue if memory serves. Imo, I'd try turning off mods, loading that save until the problem goes away. Use that to narrow down the suspect list.

 

Or you can kill the npc, strip him/her dead, and see if the issue goes away. If it does, its not an armor issue. Perhaps a body mod not installed right?

i wonder about this tho, when ingame, i know you can open the console and get some info.

it would be nice if an experienced modder explained how (if it is possible) to see in game what the offending texture is.

then it could be looked up in the modlist and find possible culprits.

you do run the updated smim.?.that had an issue.

Well I played tonight for about 3 hours and didn't have it happen once, even with the same NPC's as in the pics, so Im not sure right now. I've been testing all kinds of things since SE was released, so maybe its possibly a mod or load order issue, that may or may not have sorted itself out. Only know that it didn't happen tonight. I will update if it comes back.

It isn't a mod..... it's NMM! Dark0ne apparently screwed up the coding in his program and website which is why all the errors are surfacing and the problems are occurring.... also he is not checking the mods being uploaded by others.... most of them ARE NOT compatible with SSE!!!!! He doesn't care....

 

Also most of the mods being uploaded are being uploaded by people who did not create them for the original skyrim game....

 

My suggestion is stop using NMM and go get the mods from Steam where they are being checked to verify that they are compatible with SSE.... I found out too late and my game got FU*CKED by his program and some mod some other moron uploaded.,... I am uninstalling NMM and getting banned from the website forever YAY!!!!!

This problem is usually caused by mesh corruption of one sort or another, usually in VRAM or RAM, possibly from bad overclock or memory issues. I have just seen one case that was claimed by the hard drive itself, a bad sector led to loading corrupted file.

 

But due to the updated mesh system, some incompatible mods/meshes are causing this issue. Choose mods wisely if they contain meshes. SMIM was recently updated to fix most these issues, if not all, within that mod.

Sorry Tymat but I really have to take issue with your "Not Compatible" list. I am using many of these mods with complete success, and know they are compatible. Take one instance: Vurt's Skyrim Flora Overhaul for SSE. This has been released by Vurt and I completely trust Vurt's abilities as one of Skyrim's great modders to provide a converted mod. It works flawlessly in Skyrim SE.

 

Now, that said, any modder really should read a Skyrim SE mod description to check it truly has been converted. There are a number of mods that have been uploaded unchanged, but these are being weeded out by Robin and team, as well as by natural selection as they fail in game.

 

So I'm not in agreement with your list, Tymat, but you do have a valid point on checking things.

 

Also, with the Creation Kit it is actually quite easy to convert mods from old to new for yourself, so long as they are not SKSE dependent. I've done a few for myself with no problem.
