TechNina
I’m wondering if there are any must have mods for the game, especially ones that build upon the fairly limited settlement system in game or expand combat and crafting. I’m also interested in mods for graphics and sound suitable for higher end computers. Also, I’ve only used total conversion mods before with. Can anyone give me some advice for how to mod the game to prevent conflicts and avoid bugs and other issues?
Moksha8088
There are so many game enhancing mods. Graphics wise, mods that add trees and grass can make Fallout a more enjoyable experience, although many like the barren, desolate and dried out look. Fallout 4 Seasons and Grasslands add the necessary foliage for a green and less depressing Commonwealth. I like the Reshader mod Phase 4. Many ENBs can add that smeared vaseline on the monitor screen look. CBBE makes for easy on the eye female characters and True Eyes by JimtownIrish makes their eyes easy too. Searching for face mods by Koozebane will yield some good results. My favorites are quest and advanced companion mods. The best quest mod so far is Tales from the Commonwealth. I also want to try Fusion City and that new Trainwiz mod about a haunted amusement park. Edit - Conflicts can sometimes be avoided by running the program LOOT to make sure your mod load order is correct. Adding the mods themselves can be easily accomplished with the Nexus Mod Manager, which allows you to run LOOT from within it. Have fun with Fallout 4. genolune
For Settlements, I recommend Homemaker and Settlement Objects Expansion Pack along with Scrap Everything and Place Everywhere.

allenidaho
A handful I would recommend: - Neutral Vertibirds - Lets you build a landing pad and vertibird which you must assign a settler to pilot. You can then use the vertibird to take you anywhere you have already discovered or call it in to pick you up. It's a real game changer. I love it. - Spring Cleaning - Expands the scrap list in player settlements. Lets you get rid of just about everything. - True Storms - Pretty epic storms. More rain. Better thunder sounds. Thick dust storms.or- Vivid Weathers - Also pretty well done. - Grasslands - Adds a bit of green to the commonwealth. I kind of like it. - LED Black Pip-Boy Deluxe - It is just a pip-boy retexture. But it looks great. - Repaired Sanctuary Bridge - Replaces the damaged bridge to sanctuary with the pre-war bridge. It is good to have if you plan on using Sanctuary as a base. - Nuclear Nude - It is a female nude mod. Very well done textures. - Armorsmith Extended - Lets you layer armor over any clothing type. Not perfect, but useful. Also tends to disable nude mods because you can't exploit the bug that lets you take a settler's clothing by trading and equipping a piece of armor on them. - Place Everywhere - Another great mod. It lets you place objects anywhere you might have originally had a red conflict.
damanding
Scrap Everything is actually a better choice than Spring Cleaning. It has current support and some of the behind the scenes stuff it does is better than Spring Cleaning's approach.
allenidaho
I think that one came into being after spring cleaning was released. I'll download it and give it a go. Thanks for the heads up. :)
damanding
Important note about Scrap Everything is to ignore where LOOT places it in your sort order. It HAS to go at the very bottom of your list or stuff you scrap can show back up.
TechNina
Are mods reversible once installed, in terms of being able to uninstall them without breaking things?
moddersrule1969
Use the Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) to easily manage your mods (install, activate, deactivate, uninstall, organize, etc) and use LOOT to optimize the load order of your mod plugins. Must-have mods for Survival Mode:Horizon Super Mutant Redux War of the Commonwealth Better Settlers Locksmith Vivid Weathers We Are the Minutemen True Frags Stumble Upon InteriorsThose were just a few of my favorites.
