Old character import.

Want to be rude about it? Really? I was saying that NONE of my saves show unless I hit "Show all saves". Not the new ones or the imported. Do I need to explain that a few more times?

My most sincere apologies, I thought you were being sarcastic in your post. Does this mean that the only real way to manage saves right now is... separate save folders?

 

The only thing sarcastic, is how Bethesda has decided to manage our save files. Bit, other than that, no sarcasm intended. When I click load, all I see is "Show all saves". My apologies if what I wrote was misunderstood. I think you might be correct on that. But, I would think that it would still be the same thing happening.

 

My new char I made earlier is now unusable. I cannot interact with NPCs. Just items and animals. Doors are also fine. My original Skyrim save is fine. But, not the one started from SE. So, until we get bug fixes and an actual working unofficial patch, I think we are all hosed in one way or the other.

I will attempt to rename the save with the new character's ID, see if that helps...

Why not make a custom save. Open up console in game, type in:

save "insert character name here. No spaces or quotes"

Then, since console is open, tupe in:

qqq

Then load up the game, see where the name is.

So...

Char A = old.

Char B = new.

 

Copying the ID of Char B (between SaveXXX and _Tamriel) onto the name of the save of Char A has made Char A show up in the saves of Char B (but only the saves with the changed name, of course).

 

Bad news is, I'll have to make another character with the same name as Char A for it to make sense.

 

PS, I will try the command next.

 

Update:

The command does not add Char A to the characters list.

Welp, there we go. A couple new saves for good measure and I seem to be back on my way AND I get character management.

I was trying to explain this in my post about quicksaves problem -

I created the first character new, then few days later I copy/pasted old saves.

It doesn't show the name because you have 8x0 in your save - save1_00000000_unique 16 number set_location_location number_date.

I loaded the old save into SE, resaved, then loaded again and tried to resave with showracemenu - where you have to type the name of your character, but I am afraid, if that caused the problem with quicksaves.

The 2nd pack of numbers I think should be 16, but I'm afraid, that all resaves messes up the 2nd bundle of names - maybe it is connected to achievements, or hardcoded features like race - I tried my 2nd playthrough with an unique race snow elf, but the 2nd number was messed up - only 14 numbers. Nobody, who does understand this gave me answer, but if you don't have problems with quicksave, then atleast I know, that my problem is not because the copying, but maybe because of the racemenu.

It will trick your game to think you just started a new character and will give it it's own character selection id

 

No seriously i don't know how the hell it works but it just works.

 

After two years, and i think I'm the only one discovered that ( by accident ).

 

At least the only one care for sharing it xD
