It seems like it was Emil's influence after all: I'm so upset. The best part of this tweet is that it was Emil as lead writer, who rejected Kurt Kuhlmann RPG system for nordic gods and used imperial gods instead, then when players were wondering why it is not in the game they are bad now? Also when Bruce Nesmith said that Starfield should have been just a few planets in his interview which was the main suggestions by players, he calls them entitled? and the lead design was probably the reason why Bruce lelft Bethesda because they insisted on 1000 planets with loading screens, so Emil destroyed hard work of other devs and now he is talking about team work? It was senior RPG designers who disgreed with him and he rejected it, instead he started to promote his - "the writing should be simple, stupid", which didn't matter to me before because I liked the writing, but it seems like it had bigger consequences. Also I bet it is Call of duty Emil is buying every year, because he has proven he doesn't understand why all of those details are important in RPGs. Also it really seems like it was Bruce and Kurt work what made me enjoing Skyrim and I would enjoy it even more if it wouldn't be streamlined. And with them gone, there is nobody left in Bethesda who would create RPGs. Well it doesn't matter, because with bigger monetization and bad game pass system Microsoft will have problems. I believe they shouldn't add big games which will last for a month, because they are too much expensive to offer it for free, but smaller games, you don't have money left to buy, so Microsoft will add more of microtransactions aswell. It is not good.

I started to be a bit nostalgic with the latest departures of the main devs, so I decided to create this thread. It is clear that they lost the masterminds behind success of Skyrim and their previous titles, and eventhough I didn't always agree with their PR tactics, Pete Hines was part of Bethesda aswell and actually good in what he was doing. Also it is clear that Bethesda is now kind of "swallowed" by Microsoft so whatever their next game will be, if they even manage to create it, it will not be Bethesda I liked. There was a recent interview with Bruce Nesmith, which clarified a lot about what was happening there. My impression was that Todd started to be separated from his senior designers and consulted his ideas only with certain people, which lead to very limited and not that successful game designs, which is my main problem with their games after Skyrim. I don't mind bugs, outdated graphics, I actually liked most of Skyrim/Fallout 4 writing, but they were unable or unwilling to continue in their older roleplaying system designs like separated factions you can join exclusively, immersivity, attention to detail and eventhough partially it was still there, the combination with all the other systems didn't work that well, because of their new lead design, which was focused on a simplified action gameplay rather that the previous slower, immersive, choose your adventure mode. Also it seems like Todd also forgot who made his games successful, it is not just about having the right components. I didn't play Starfield and I don't intend to - I tried with Fallout 4, I bought the game because of modding and it was full of problems, and it seems to be even worse with Starfield, so my opinion will stay based on youtubers.
  3. I saw Asmongold reaction video about those twitter posts and some other youtuber, who compared it to Destiny 2 and their "don't overdeliver it" philosophy. Well Destiny 2 is such a typical example of "destroy the main game, so players would buy our newest expansion and praise us for changing for the better, while we do it on purpose" which started with Blizzard and WOW, but nobody didnt notice it or didn't want to criticize Blizzard at that time. So I get why players are angry - it is so twisted it makes you feel sick so you don't want to play games anymore. But this reaction started with small dev scared from angry gamers reaction, which wasn't "the right place and the time" I would say and only made everything worse. AA games should be about innovative mechanics and freedom, while they copy AAA games with pseudo realistic graphics and failing anyway. They would do that mistake even without BG3 success. It is hard to say why Larian games are so popular for me, but it didn't start with super realistic graphics and 3 and more voiced dialogue options - that is all I would tell to those "scared devs".
  4. I liked bosses in Vampyr - their unique appearances, voices and combat mechanics - both aesthetical and using the weapons you would expect. Like the sister with a cross, the singer with a tentacle, or the blighted couple.
  5. I wish there would be a mod which would add more of plants which could be use in a battle or even better - the possibility to add plants as spells - to move it from utility consumable bar to spell bar. So I could be true Hufflepuff plants fighter. And I know it will never come - to have a battle pet. Also I wish I could learn all of potions (and more of potions) like in the first potion class - brew it, the same way how you learn spells every time. I hate buying it from a stupid shop. I mean the shop is great - to buy potions, but I should learn the recipes from the school.
  6. Sadly old gamers/devs cannot understand that some casual players have a problem in first person - the same kind of problem as VR sickness. It was confirmed for me when I was flying a starship in a game in first person and I had no problem with that, actually I felt better - more immersive even if the window was quite small. But walking in openworld in first person was very unconfortable. I wish devs would finally understand it (if they have the money to do it). But it is the same as RPG games becoming actually RPG :(. It feels so impossible to have roleplaying mechanics in MMOs - even if it is proven by Final Fantasy that players will roleplay professions and it would be perfect fit as daily routiness - instead they will smash daily random grind for some reason. Maybe that is a problem of quest designers being the same as system designers who are not really creative, I don't know. But I can always hope :p.
  7. Legacy is the only youtuber from those, who cover Fallout, tak is talking about it - well they didn't talk about him even during 15th Fallout anniversary... I get it why Bethesda couldn't, but they could do it...
  8. I think there are children bibles with pictures :).
  9. If it is so little why bother? I'm not talking about 1 payment, I was talking about supporting this site. So I was trying to support this site differently as a mod author. Apparently it wasn't enough... And I don't like Fandom because they are creating monopoly on gaming wikies for some reason and I don't like monopoly. It was interesting to read their history - how they started as wiki for games, then they partnered and were consumed by Fandom company which is advertisement company and now they are creating monopoly. and I don't understand why they have to annoy people with asking them if they can run ads if it can be done in a different way. I don't like advertising /marketing companies creating this whole culture of annoyances in the name of working revenue. Bethesda MMO, their launcher and Fallout 76 is built on annoying features, and it is spreading now the same way like lootboxes before - why bother people all the time?
  10. I know I felt bad about it but those advertising sites are annoying. I hate Fandom already, the other one requires confirmation as well. It is not my will and desire to look at adds, I can only suffer their presence, so requiring more than that makes me bock it totally. I know that Nexus tried to partner with GOG, so I was wondering if there is any way how to change (or have it as an option) random adds to advertising connected directly to games, which would have useful information for me - like AA publishers, software/services connected to creative process, make use of the amount of traffic and the idea of creativity rather than having it as a burden. I know with adds it should be a lot of money, but I was afraid that advanced PC users will use add block. And now if more of people will create mods... As I said - I wouldn't mind to have some section for information/advertisement from interesting games/companies if it wouldn't interrupt me in any way. I don't know about others or if in the end it would turn up to be bad idea.
  11. I agree. Today I was told about homeless problem in California and I was going to question American capitalistic freedom - if they can let someone down and not help him in his need because they have no social network (or whatever it is called), isn't it a crime against humanity ? (also I start to understand why there are so many SJW in America) But then I saw this: https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/apple-commits-2-5-billion-to-fixing-california-housing-crisis/ The whole capitalistic idea kept together because someone rich is good? I think they couldn't count with that in capitalistic economic theory so what is the capitalistic system of safe social network support for people who faced crisis? Fall and die? If they say that the system will take care of itself - the system is based on being the strongest and let the weak die, isn't it? Or am I missing something? The truth is there was never homeless in my country during communism (yes, I know some people did explain to me here that the name is a lie and it was socialism, but the name is set already). And now with democratic government it is some percentage, but not this big amount of people. But who knows, I think I have read somewhere that the economy can crash from time to time and a lot of people will end up there. EDIT: Also the most common description of freedom was always ZOO vs jungle laws, I can add- vs domestic animals. I wander if it is possible to apply it all the time. Maybe most o the time. And I was always OK with it. But then you face circumstances you cannot deal with and suddenly you are glad that you can have atleast some support from the state. I changed this to political agenda again - but really it is not, just trying to discover how people really live and how it can influence how they feel - like if they feel hate to people who have good life while they live under the bridge. Also I have special sentiment to homeless. I never forget how one of them told me to be happy because life it too short to be sad when I was sad just walking around, while he was sitting among piles of trash. But I agree with the statement that nothing is perfect really.
  12. Today I have read on internet that too much of thinking is making brain tired and kills creativity. They said that I should avoid all things which are making the overflow of thoughts, and get an activity which leads from them. you are right Pagafyr! ("Has the Internet prepared children not to be creative? ") I'm done with internet discussions. On the other hand I finally read atleast the headlines of your orinigal links and it really is interesting. But my brain feels so tired now, I cannot continue. Bye
  13. It felt a bit strange to me as well to be reminded of the limit, on the other hand I disagree with the statement that we should demand something. It is more complicated. If you would look at how many people downloaded Creation club patches, you would realize how much money Bethesda is making out of their paid version of mods just from a few thousands of their fans, while this is free site with a lot of crap mods, which take the space and it is hard to search them for something valuable. So Nexus does need more money than Bethesda and is paid less, so there could be some frustration. On the other hand I felt guilty for not paying anything (I can't even), so I started to create mods to contribute atleast somehow. But even if I would be a rich person I cannot imagine what kind of services I would cut off for paying customers but still making this site friendly to all creative people. On the other hand this site is based on good will, so good PR is something needed so players would pay for some sort of patreon, which they wouldn't if they feel intimidated. But even that patreon is not really propagated. If I look at youtubers - they are saying in a friendly way that there is their patreon for contributions - I don't know if that works for them. So while Bethesda can afford to kick players who don't pay, I'm not sure a free service can do it? But I guess people are afraid of that it will end up like with some free to play games - it started like: we are free to play, feel free to support us - and ended with: pay us or suffer even if we are free to use. But it is like in life - someone is trying their best to be friendly but only to be spanked around, while others are more focused on their own gain, but they are good at lying and twisting facts, and they are praised. I guess it is all about what is visible for most of people sadly. I almost never find a person who would be able to see reality of someone else.
  14. I like travelling by train and feet. So I generally travel around my country - I miss nights under the sky in a bivaque prepared by someone before me and leaving that for others who will come after. I did make a few trips outside - around western Europe just to see how it looks like there. Most of the time it just felt really unfamiliar.
  15. I guess nobody is commenting here, because there are many opinions on RPGs, so I will just add more here like some sort of news feed. I saw this on RPG codex (where I don't dare to comment) - that creators of Daggerfall are forming a new game. I was trying to find more, this reddit feels the best for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/CouncilOfWisdom/ I have good and bad experience with similar projects. If they use the really ancient engines - like if it would be another Daggerfall - I guess it would be good enough for certain group of players, but nobody would probably talk about it - like Shroud Avatar. On the other hand if they would try some new engine like Unity (which some players claimed to dislike already), they would need collaboration with some established studio - like Obsidian did with their project and it was OK for more players. Also there are different groups of RPG players with different preferences, so I guess it wouldn't be for me, so I can just wish they would implement those generated RPG mechanics well so it could be atleast inspiration for games I would be able to play.
