Sailing Mod

Somehow, I've always wanted to be able to sail in Oblivion. I don't even know if this mod is possible, but I'll give it a shot anywho. What I'm aiming for is a ship (starting in Anvil maybe?) that one can get upon, recruit a crew, fill containers with food, buy trade goods even. Maybe I'll stick with the ship to start.... Anyway, I can script (although this'll be a new one for me) but I cannot do voice-overs, meshes or textures. I can script, package and use the CS, and that's about it. So if anyone would like to help, I'd be very gratefull, if not... I'll try anyway lol.

 

 

Edit: I kinda spazzed out on the "cannot"... :sweat:

All vehicle mods suffer from one easy problem, the game is simply not designed to have static elements moving around. What little scripting support there is tends to have significant flaws, and the more complex the craft (as in doors, containers, NPCs) the more difficult it is to make work. There are a few boat mods out there, but they pretty much accomplish all you can within the game.

Yup, and that's why I want to see if I can make a collision mesh boat instead. The containers wouldn't be much trouble, as all the ones you would use would be below. The ones above would simply be there to clutter up the deck.

I think your best bet, if you feel like playing around with all the scripting involved, is to try making a rowboat or something small move in a way where it either follows either set paths, or where the player or an NPC can direct it in a way which will not allow for clipping through ground, walls, and other things. Then see if you can apply the same script to something larger. The biggest problem with anthing that has doors moving lies in making them work.
