billyro
Yes, Karliah is scary. But not in a "OMG!" sort of way. I mean that she has that snakey, throaty voice and her purple eyes and just the way she speaks. The first time you meet the Nightingale, she saves your life and then sends you away again. I was like "What the? I don't even know who you are really." Then you next meet her and she's all serious and devoted. At that point, I could hardly believe she was a thief. Then later we become Nightingales, and she's begging forgiveness from Nocturnal and duties this, duties that. This is not thief-ish at all. Then you go and kill M guy (I can't remember his name) and the place falls to bits. Return to Nocturnal, and Karliah suddenly talks deceptive and says "We are thieves" like the way Smeagol says "precious". That did it, I thought it was pathetic. What the heck? Strange character, that's all I can say.
huntsman2310
She's not that strange, I loved her character. Her accent made her sound fairly sweet and innocent, while her relationship with Nocturnal (like it is with all Nightingales) is akin to that of a tough love mother and her child. She has a sort of Catwoman vibe to her I feel.
billyro
The voice was eerie. It reminded me of scratching fingernails on a blackboard at times. Don't know why, but it just did. The thing I really didn't understand was her total devotion to Nocturnal, and then at the end she just drops it and becomes focused on thievery again. huntsman2310
It only really surfaces when something involving Nocturnal comes up, or when a Nightingale is involved. But she is a thief at heart, as are other Nightingales so it makes sense she loves the thievery. I can't really say that her voice sounds like that. To me it sounds really soft and gentle, almost wistful even.
SavageArtistry
I thought she sounded a lot like Jennifer Hale when she played Bastila in Knights of the Old Republic. (I looked it up - not the same person.)
billyro
I can't really say that her voice sounds like that. To me it sounds really soft and gentle, almost wistful even. Its just that. I don't think a voice like hers suits a thief. The voice actor must have struggled to create this voice. Sometimes the voice pitch changes, sometimes it cracks a little bit, sometimes it sounds as if she was in pain. huntsman2310
maybe its all a part of her technique? She can sound very ruthless when she has to. It would actually make sense for her to put on a innocent and gentle vibe to throw people off. she is a master thief after all.
