Do I need to scrap my save because of Form Version 43 Mods?

I just watched an interesting video on YouTube which explained how to check whether mods have been converted correctly from Skyrim to Skyrim Special Edition through the Creation Kit. I checked my load order with SSEEdit and checked the ESMs and ESPs and have found I have downloaded 8 mods from the Nexus that are supposedly converted but in fact are not and have the incorrect Form Version 43 in the header which proves they have been nowhere near the Creation Kit. So am I going to need to scrap my save, remove these bad mods and then start a new game?

All you need to do is

1. Get the new SSE Creation Kit from Bethesda

2. Start it

3. Then, File, Data, highlight the esp

4. Set as active file, then OK

5. File, save

that should convert the esp to the correct version

repeat as needed.

Hope this helps.

Well...I'm going to hazard that some 43 mods actually seem to work without problem. I have a number of simple 43 mods in my game and not seen any problems at all. I suspect it will be an issue with more complex mods, like followers. Sometimes Wrye Bash will flag up an out-of-date setting problem, and I run those through the CK and that fixes them. The only ones that get truly bugged are followers and complex mods.

What part about those very simple instructions do you not understand? And @ducky, I would call out those mod authors if I found something like that. The SE esp format adds new forms.

Is it possible to detect which mods are form 43? I would like to use the guide on this thread to convert all my oldrim esp mods. Thanks!

Open up any mod with the latest version of SSEEdit and look at the Form Version line - it's the seventh line down. All SSE mods should say 44, all mods that are for the original version will say 43. That's not the only thing needed for SSE compliance mind you but its the easiest to check by far.

Just checked some mods that I ran through creation kit and the form version did not change. Also checked five follower mods from skyrim SE Nexus and three where still the old version 43. Might have a issue with creation kit me thinks as I have followed the correct method. Will give it another try.
