shazidy
Obviously I'm doing something wrong. I've read almost all the topics in the troubleshooting section and googled the heck out of it but noone, especially in here seems to know the answer! Downloaded a few texture replacer mods like vurts flora and lush trees and such, nothing that requires esp or bsa or anything like that, just textures! I've dragged and dropped them in the Data folder making sure I haven't made mistakes with texture vs. textures. Tried the NMM to install mods, tried changing the steam directory to C\:Games since that is what everyone thinks is the solution to the UAC problem... Nothing still works. I can't count how many times I've installed, uninstalled an re-installed this game to get it to work.... still.... nothing. And yes, I've tried running it through 4GB, also tried to "Load Loose Files" and looking through the skyrimprefs. Can someone give a straight answer to this problem, every thread I've come across in here stops when this particular issue comes up, so what gives??? Please help! I run a win7 x64amd phenom II x6 1090T processor 3.20 gHz4GB ram1GB ati radeon 5850 HD
MShoap13
What mods are you currently using? (including FXAA PPI, ENBseries, 4GB SKyrim, etc.) What version of Skyrim are you running? And what is the exact file path that you've placed your replacement textures in? I have a feeling that you're simply failing to paste the files to the right location, but without the aforementioned information, the only thing I can suggest is to reset the Archive Invalidation in NMM, though I've yet to see any evidence that this feature is necessary, or even working yet. I've seen this suggested multiple times to users having the same problem as you (replacers not working), though they've all worked fine for me since day one. Moreover, the Archive Invalidation method that NMM should use for Skyrim would be BSA Redirection, which places an empty dummy .bsa archive into your \Skyrim\Data\ folder. When you click "Reset Archive Invalidation" in NMM it places nothing in any folder related to Skyrim (and I'm pretty sure it actually doesn't do zip at the moment). Note: When I say "exact file path" I mean this:C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim\Data\textures\armor\daedric\m\[file.name] Edited December 23, 2011 by MShoap13
shazidy
I am one hundred percent sure the file path is correct.. So far ive only tried with texture replacers, and again, the file path is absolutely correct. And yes, ive tried with archive invalidation and Even running skyrim from nmm. Just to be clear, the data folder holds the bsa files right? There has never been a bsa file in the replacers ive used. So far ive tried vurt flora, lush trees and grass and the 2k HD tried Them with both 4gb.. Could it possibly be that im using 4gb wrong? please ask if you need more info
HadToRegister
with the 1.3.10 patch the 4gb mod isn't necessary anymore. Your textures should be in data\textures\<whatever folder> The BSA files are Bethesda Archives they installed with the game. NONE of the textures and files you installed should be seen hanging around in the folder alongside the BSA files. If you're seeing dds files alongside BSA files, then you don't have the right folder. Just in case, check to make sure you don't have a data\data\textures path...

bben46
The one thing that I see missing from your original post is unzipping. Did you unzip the files before putting them into the game folders?
MShoap13
Replacers don't come in .bsa archives nor should you ever import or overwrite anything already in the vanilla .bsa's. The game should automatically detect and use replacers provided they're installed correctly.
shazidy
Again. There Are no bsa files in the zip archive ive unzipped so far. I know from multiple other threads that of course the files should be unzipped to the data folder. No there arent any loose files hanging around the other bsa files. Everything is where it should be data-textures-landscapes etc. (writing from my cell because im currently formatting). From what ive read the dds and the nif from meshes should be detected automatically and in turn 'replace' so to speak the vanilla files from the bsa (not overwriting) so again im not sure what im doing wrong
