Rimland
there's food... there's beds... why isn't there a hardcore mode as in New Vegas??? would be utterly brilliant if someone made one !
TheElderInfinity
You know, when I clicked on this topic, I was thinking of minecraft hard core where it deletes your savefile when you loose. That would be cool in Skyrim, you'd be too scared to leave whiterun.

jackalx137
i assumed the same from skyrim when it wasnt out yet, that it would have hardcore mode like new vegas.. x_x i feel they made a mistake not doing the same for skyrim if anything it would be more important to elder scroll fans to have realism. Rimland
most npcs never even sleep : \ i know !! sometimes i feel Obsiidian schooled Bethesda at their own game in some way with New Vegas, only insofar with a: companion wheelfactions... like your decisions matter as in HOW you help whohardcore modDLCs linked through an overarching story i.e. Ulysses i expected all these things in Skyrim... but instead Bethesda spites Obsidian i don't know. food is so stupid in Skyrim. cppcooper
Bethesda clearly has their own intentions as far as the story of tamriel goes. They probably have the next game's story arch already thought of. So with that said if they make the repercussions of the player's decisions impact the world too much then there will be less continuity in the next game; so they've done that for a reason, a very good reason in my opinion. The history of tamriel is probably the most compelling reason for people to actually get tes games, but it has only attracted more and more people simply because the mechanics are pretty solid too. There have been suggestions of this like before. I added some suggestions to one of them. Losing your save file had never been brought up before though. I would change that from losing your character to only being able to save by sleeping, and possibly even have to eat before sleeping.
PaulH
I aree, the HARDCORE option in Fallout made the game a lot more enjoyable to play.In Skyrim I am collecting food which I don't need to survive & just end up selling it.
ScarabMonkey
The argument against the need to eat is that it's not a survival world- unlike fallout, where food is scarce. I agree it should be an option though. There is a mod called "useful food and restful sleep" or something like that - it adds your basic needs. Gives you a penalty to stamimna/health/magicka regen if you don't eat&sleep

Erenussocrates
meh no, sleeping does have a purpose in skyrim. you get the rested bonuses. but there should be something for food though, especially for the cooked meals.
