JuJooGuppy
Hi, This may seem like a dumb question to some of you, but here it is. I am in the process of doing my own re-texture of the generic display cases scattered about Skyrim, when I was confused by there not being any velvet in the dds despite having velvet inside the case (where the items sit). Then I realize, the green-tinted blur at the bottom of the texture, is the texture of the velvet in the case. Now, my question is.. how and why is it turning to red velvet in the game? I looked at bout the _m and _n (Although, i knew the normals wouldnt be involved, I don't know the _m files real well, so I thought maybe it was, but, it isnt) http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t260/JuJooGuppy/displaycasedefault.jpg(Default texture above, the bottom bar turns to the red velvet. .. Why!? lol.) So what causes it to turn red in game? What am I missing here? I mainly want to know for my future knowledge, and also to make sure my new texture works properly. Doesnt make sense to me atm, any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Sir JuJoo Guppy
Ghogiel
mesh probably has red vertex color. In which case you'd need to edit the nif to change the color

In which case you'd need to edit the nif to change the color You know what, you're absolutely correct, I knew this... Idk why I didnt think about it, I had recalled reading that when I was learning about texturing. Thanks, much appreciated. I haven't looked into actually editing the meshes yet, is it a hassle w/o the CK? Or is it fairly simple? What would I need to get involved in that? Thanks again. The red is fine w/ me, I just wanted an idea why it was that way, I cant believe I forgot bout that. Many thanks! Sir JuJoo Guppy
Ghogiel
You just need nifskope, then go into the block details of the NiTriShapeData of that mesh object and look for vertex color, there should be an expandable array with a big list of vertices and their color. just find the red ones and change them...
