Creating textures - negative space won't stay that way

Well you see. Firstly I didn't know that. I don't typically need to save a diffuse texture with an alpha, unless I'm saving a normal map which I always save as DXT5 anyway. I was only trying to help the OP out and while it may be inferior, DXT3 was an acceptable if not ideal solution.

@ Ghogiel:

I'll explain this time:

DXT3 is an inferior version to DXT5: same file space, but inferior quality. In other words, just use DXT5.

DXT3 will reduce everything to a 16 color grey scale. DXT5 is a full 8bit 256 range. In nearly every scenario DXT5 will be preferred. Secondly and probably most importantly as this is to do with the werewolf head textures Bethesda Vanilla diffuse map is DXT5. Now explain why you would substitute DXT3 in this scenario?
