gladiator49
I'm extremely thankful for mod authors and what they do however the one thing I'm disappointed in is the lack of mods for this game right now. It seems to me that Skyrim is far more popular amongst most modders and I understand Skyrim has been out for 5 years and this game 1 but by this point in Skyrim's life there were more mods than we have for Fallout now. Also with the new Special Edition of Skyrim being released I worry that many mod authors that might have come to Falllout and focus on making mods here may now go back to Skyrim to port old mods and create new ones. Just unfortunate because I much prefer Fallout to the Elder Scrolls and I can't go back to New Vegas after playing 4. Maybe it's just the move from 32 bit to 64 bit and so a lot of authors are still getting used to everything however I have no modding knowledge other than installing and managing them so I don't know. I think it's something to do with the constant patches for FO4 and the affect that has on F4SE which sort of puts you back on every attempt at doing anything. I think I also heard something about different bits of the game changing slightly so the tools used in Skyrim could no longer be used in the same way for FO4. I didn't even know that Bethesda were still patching the game. Thanks for the added information, I've been away from the game since December and decided to come back and play with some mods however I think I might put off another playthrough for a while until the game hopefully starts getting a large amount of mods as this might be my last playthrough. The update from 32 bit to 64 bit probably threw a wrench in the modding community as well seeing as how all Bethesda games were 32 bit until now and the script extender team said it was quite different creating it as things were different as a result. Edit: Also I took a look at a comment you made earlier in the thread about your death alternative mod. I personally think it sounds like a very interesting idea and I would definitely use it if you created the mod. I think the biggest thing if you do go through with it is making sure that there is adequate punishment for dying as you mentioned in your thread. I think having various different scenarios is essential such as sometimes you just actually die and have to restart your save as the vanilla game has it. It'd be nice to die lose a ton of my stuff and continue on in the game rather than just dying and reloading my save with no real loss so I definitely think it's something that people would use if done right. I wouldn't get discouraged because few people are replying to your thread, I've been on the Nexus for almost 6 years now I believe and this is my first time coming to the forums, if you make it and do a good job I gurantee people will use it. AGreatWeight
Five years since joining Nexus, and yet the OP has only endorsed five mods, and not contributed any themselves, or even learnt how to? Seriously?! No wonder you're being called out (and rightfully so) for your inflammatory remarks, demands and weak excuses. For a little comparision, I only joined Nexus last November, yet since then I've contributed to the community in numerous ways, from uploading image sets regularly to the image gallery, endorsing mods that I use, giving feedback, started making my own mods in February (three released so far, including one ported to Xbone) and am currently working on several new ones, at the same time slowly increasing my skill-set and ability to use different tools to make bigger and more ambitious mods... whilst also occasionally helping other users out in the forums with problems that I can help resolve due to the knowledge I've gained since learning to mod (although if you mention Ressurection Mod, don't act surprised if I get a bit surly)...and I do all this whilst being self-employed and working unsocial hours, and also assisting my elderly parents (one of whom has a physical disability)Saying you don't have the time is NO excuse, I say your talking b.s. and need to pull your finger out.Aside from one time when someone attempted to troll me because I don't condone mod theft, I've recieved nothing but positive vibes from the Nexus community so far, and have been given much support from fellow modders if I've had a query regarding a problem whilst working on mods. People have been nice, and helped me feel welcome, because I've been polite, courteous, respectful and haven't demanded anything. Unlike some people. damanding
My experience has been much the same AGreatWeight. Nearly everyone has been great and I've always received the help I needed. I've also learned a lot, made a few mods (have some unfinished ones in progress also) and anyone who visits the support areas probably sees my avatar on like half the threads. :D This is a community built by people who believe in providing great things that are currently free. Even if paid modding comes back, there are still mod authors who will continue to provide free content. Others like myself will provide free support. One's attitude towards the content providers is really the best way we can "repay" those content providers at this time, especially if you're not wealthy enough to financially donate to them. I may technically be a mod author, but I'm first and foremost a mod user. As such it behooves me to show my appreciation through kudos, endorsements, respectful behavior (which doesn't have to mean butt-kissing), and being understanding of a mod author's time, interest, and energy levels. Bingo! If only I could make the kind of mods that I use or could think of them. Plus its also about sharing. If I make something for myself, chances are, someone else might like it. We'll get much further helping each other than not attempting to. That's the good thing about the community.
whopwhop
why are you all being so hard on the guy? you are all taking this to personal, he is bringing up a good point ,I do a little modding for myself , I understand how hard it is and how long it can take. also if everyone was to accept the game as it is then why mod at all I look at modding as a form of art so go wild with it, you want to make the game look like hell or heaven has arrived ok or if you want to add pink bunnies to the game go ahead. AGreatWeight
I'll readily take issue with someone complaining about the mod community not making the mods they want to see, when that same person has contibuted nothing to the community themselves... short version - what Ethreon said. You might need to have read the op's other thread to have some more context. BeingShotAt
Yo -snip- You do realize that part of the reason there isn't much modding for FO4 is twofold right?A. Bethesda.net resulting in mods being stolen really discourages people to even want to mod for Fallout 4 B. Also FO4 is considered to be pretty bad on the whole Edited November 21, 2016 by BeingShotAt
