mkrr3
Hi I searched the internet and forums and found nothing about the problem im having. I install the game, it runs fine, I mod the game, it runs fine, I reboot pc, the game crashes instantly when i press Start in the launcher. If I delete all files manually and redownload the game it works again. Deleting oblivion.ini does nothing so does changing thew obliviondefault. Game modded or no it still happens. So let's assume the game is not modded. What is interesting I delete references to bik videos in my ini so they dont load when the game starts. But when the 'bug' happens sometimes instead of crashing instantly it starts playing one of bik videos, 1 sec of music then crashes. If i delete all bik videos game goes to loading screen after movies and then crashes. It looks like after restart it is loading another 'default' ini? Can't figure it out. Windows 10, newest drivers, checked with older, I play Oblivion on this rig every year. It always worked. The only thing what changed is Windows. Now it's 10. It worked on Vista,7 and 8 with no problem. On 10 it works just fine too if I don't restart my pc. No crash logs, no nothing. If anyone have any idea, please let me know. olnorton
My guess is your antivirus software stopped the games installer from registering the old directX 9.0C .dll's You could try reinstalling the game with your antivirus disabled, or you could try downloading the June 2010 runtimes https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 Make a temporary folder on your desktop to download the directx_jun2010_redist.exe When it asks where to extract the downloaded files, browse to the new temp folder. Disable your antivirus software. Scroll down through the cab files and run DXSETUP.exe When it says, installation complete, you can delete the temporary folder from your desktop. TheMastersSon
Also make sure your computer login is admin-equivalent when you install the game. If you're installing from a downloaded file, right-click/Properties on the file and make sure it's Unblocked before running it. If you don't, it may appear to run normally, but required changes to your registry won't be made. The procedure for unblocking files may be different in Win 10, I don't use it so I can't help. aidaneok
I am having the same issue. I ran the DXSETUP.exe, but the issue remains that when I launch the game it immediately crashes. The game was running fine before I installed some mods. But I have disabled all the mods and the game still crashes.
