[HELP] Inconsistent startup CTD

When I start the game, it says, "Skyrim has stopped working," almost immediately. But if I keep trying, it eventually works. Anyone have an idea? I tried going to SKSE plugins folder and remove the plugins one by one but that didn't help.

 

The thing is, I can deactivate some .esp's, start the game, and then it doesn't CTD - other times, I'll activate those same .esp's and it will crash.

 

EDIT: removing d3d9.dll seems to fix it. But... I need it for ENBoost and FXAA Injector. Thoughts?

Your RS Patch should be placed last and then run LOOT for its preference with all your patches.

Other than that, it sounds like it may be a problem with how you installed your enb. Ensure you followed all instructions when doing that. Otherwise, your mods seem okay to me.

Also, if you are using Mod organizer, make sure your left pane matches your right.

I've been using LOOT every 2 seconds today it feels like. Moved RSPatch to the very bottom - nothing.

 

Also, I'm not using an ENB, I use ENBoost though, unless that's what you meant, I apologize. Don't see how I could have messed that up but guess it's possible.

 

Would seeing my enblocal.ini help?

What .esps are you activating deactivating?
Are you testing this on a new save? Skyrim bakes information into saves, so even if you delete or move a mod, it can still be trying to find those scripts and can cause CTD

I was troubleshooting my mod list and deactivating them 10+ at a time. I have years of experience with this and I can say this is highly unusual, so I'm 99% sure it's not a mod. Game works when I remove the d3d9.dll, at least so far.

I think I fixed it. ENBoost doesn't seem to play well with Razer Cortex. Disabled that ad it's been gravy ever since.
