Wrong forum, ask in Mod Requests.

Apart from that, new companions require voice acting and associated quests to be anywhere near as good as current companions. Everything the vanilla companions chatter about the new companions should be able to talk about. Broken legs? Needs to be a line for it. Sole Survivor's over-encumbered? Record a line for it.

As Athanasa has said a lot of work has to go into companion mods and it takes a lot of time. I've seen quest a few people post looking for voice actors for companion mods and there is one out at the moment called Ellen the cartographer you could try out. Alongside that I've heard that IIamaRCA a mod author that created the Willow companion mod for New Vegas (a fantastic well voiced mod by the way) is creating a companion mod for Fallout 4 at the moment. Give it some time and I'm sure there will be plenty more companion mods released.

Okay, so taking the 1937-ish Deacon voice lines in vanilla Fo4 and assuming each voice line is about 5 seconds long, for Deacon we have a total of just over 2:30 hours of voice lines. That's what's made it into the game.

Track back from that to how long it would take to script these lines, work out what sounds good, record them, re-record, test them, re-record AGAIN... you get the idea. Very time consuming. And I imagine that, in some ways, you'd want to record in 'batches' for the voice actor to get their head in the right place.

NOT TO MENTION! The equipment required to record with anything approaching good audio quality.

Tales of the Commonwealth adds three new companions - one guy, one Synth girl (far better than Curie), and one ghoul girl. The two females are both top notch. Last I checked, the guy still needed some work, but I think he's been updated since then.

Also check out the excellent Ellen the Cartographer, if you haven't already, http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15962/?

But yes, it would be great to see more companions - but as others have said, it requires a fair bit of work and access to actors, etc. Skyrim characters tended to be more generic in terms of dialogue, so it wasn't so much of a problem.

As what's been said. In the past, I've attempted making my own custom followers for other games, but to do it properly is literally months, maybe even years of your life dedicated to it. For most people, me included, the time requirements just aren't worth it. With the ones I have played, my only gripe is that it's too easy to get the custom companions to follow you.

On a side-note to this topic, I think there should be a new category. One for Vanilla Companions and one for New Companions, because I have spent quite some time sifting through vanilla companions that have altered looks/genders looking for custom/new ones.
