Mirco1502
Hey everyone, well "new" isn't really correct. I allready played Skyrim before, but up to 2 Years ago. With the release of SSE i want to comeback and dive again into this great game. And i want to use Mods again, but i'm a little bit irritated. First of all: 1. How can i see which Skyrim Vanilla Mods are Compatible with Skyrim SE? I've found some Mods on the Nexusmods Skyrim SE site, referring to Mods from the Vanilla site. But it seems like not every vanilla Mod will work for the SE. So any way to find out without trial & error tactic? 2. I have no experience with shaders and co. But since i bought a complety new Highend-Computer 3 Weeks ago, i want to get the ultimate visual Experience in Skyrim SE. So what for Shader Mods can you recommend? 3. Besides shaders, i want to go in Mods for my character, too. I saw a lot of Screenshots, showing incredible highres (and incredible sexy) characters with awesome (and sexy) Armor. I've found out i will need at first some sort of "Character Model" Mod, like CBBE. But i've found it only on the Vanilla site. But i'm sure thats not all, i will need some texture Mods for Skin, Hair and Eyes, too, won't i? 4. I don't want to mess up my game. So it would be nice to get all this in 20-30 Mods max. Better simple than complicated, if you know what i mean. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks! iznogoud1965
I am also new to SkyrimSE+mods, I was forced to reinstall game and mod cause CTD and broken savegame. it was my own fault, I should of course not put my trust in "Skyrim Special Edition" mods. Alot of modders are (copy paste) mods from vanilla Skyrim.Manual download mod look at ESP date if dated before SSE release then don't install the mod.Or download sse translator just load and see the pop up windows msg. if any message then don't install mod. Deleted3897072User
(3) CBBE hasn't been released for SSE yet, but the authors are working on it and it will come when it comes. Meanwhile, people are using the Oldrim CBBE.
Phantomtrkr
Has anyone else had the problem with it crashing after modding and cleaning?
Dusty4life
99.99% of texture mods will work straight off of the bat. If you only want everything to look good - there is the perfect start, Anything that requires SKSE - forget about it for the most part as SKSE isn't SSE ready yet. LucasKaneqd
I may as well post my question here, since I'm basically in the same position as OP and have similar doubts. Very new to decent pc gaming and modding. Basically, my biggest one atm: How do I use reportedly-compatible Oldrim mods on S.E.? Not via Nexus, I'm guessing, as I'll get an error bc I don't even have Oldrim installed. Manual download then install on SSE folder as if it were Oldrim? Kroekr
NMM recognizes SSE. When you install it, let it find SSE and select it. Don't need Oldrim
LucasKaneqd
NMM recognizes SSE. When you install it, let it find SSE and select it. Don't need Oldrim Yes, but certain mods are not on the SSE section of SMM, only Odlrim section, so when I try to download them, I get an error message saying I don't have the game installed (obviously. Even if those mods are reportedly SSE-compatible. Edited December 13, 2016 by LucasKaneqd
Kroekr
Download manually then use the green plus sign in top left corner to add. If they have esp's, you want to make sure you run them through the SSE CK (open then save) and run the nif's (meshes) through the converter that is around here somewhere. LucasKaneqd
OK. For the task at hand, it just so happened the SSE mod I was installing needed part of an Oldrim one to work, but dring install it nicely guided me through what I needed to do, including optimizing some of those .nif with the converter, so for now I'm good. But thanks for telling me about the manual download and how to "add from file" to Nexus. There is A LOT to take in for a newcomer to modding here, and every tip is appreciated, it'll probably come in handy eventually.
