Anyone have compassion for a dragon?

So, it was definitely the greatest battle for me yet. This was a very difficult dragon for me. I started out playing a bit on the very easy level, where dragons were a breeze. So, creating a character for an Adept level game is a bit challenging to me. For me, the battle was epic.

Lydia did a wonderful job of baiting the dragon near my hiding spot. She fired arrow after arrow, while I laid low for my shout to regen and a good opportunity to use it. I would melee a shout then dual fire and sparks at it, then played the waiting game. Took about half an hour to take it down.

This is when I started getting a strange feeling. After one particular shout, the dragon was down, wounded. Unable to fly, let alone move around. Lydia stayed to the front, while I flanked it from the rear. With his bloodied tail wagging at me, I just knew it's face and wings were messed up pretty badly. I was in a perfect up close position to send a shout and sparks it's way, which I did. Until finally it had to end. One more blowing shout would take it down for good. And it hit me. I was feeling sorry for it. This creature of terror was tugging at my heart strings. It's only a game, but I just didn't want to do it. I talked myself into it by rationalizing it's agony. It needed to be put down, and I was the bits and bytes warrior to do it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

No, i don't pity them at all. They have been picking on me since i was level 5, in all honesty i never wanted to kill them, but i can't seem to walk anywhere without a dragon springing up and 2-shotting me, though it's less of a problem now.

All i wanted to do is walk around picking flowers and stuff, but more often than not, i find myself running for my life or hiding inside some old shack. What did i ever do to them ?

Compassion for dragons? Not so much.

Now for those cute little foxes...

On my first character I shot every animal that I came across to get my archery up. At fist I didn't think about it because I could use the pelts for leather, the ingredients, sell off the tusks and so on. But when I didn't need those anymore and it became purely to level up I started to feel bad. Shooting deer, goats, mammoths and sometimes not even bother to recover the arrows. Especially the foxes. They just seem to be enjoying themselves running around, making that little growling noise.

So now I let them all live. Feels much better. :)
