HadToRegister
I'm Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, Harbinger of the Companions, Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild and Leader of the Thieves Guild. What I'd like to know is, WHY IS EVERYBODY STILL TELLING ME WHAT TO DO?!?!?!?!?! I'm the one still running errands and doing all the jobs for all the guilds.
abaris
What I'd like to know is, WHY IS EVERYBODY STILL TELLING ME WHAT TO DO?!?!?!?!?! That's been around with every Elder Scrolls game. I only hoped it would be differently this time around, but no luck. Best turnoff quote I had from one of my guild unerlings: "You're much better suited for such a menial task, don't you think?" Tsixth
It all depends on what kind of character you wanna play as, though the thieves and assassin's guilds do have some business ties with each other. If you play a spellsword, pretty much everything in Skyrim can be done by you and handwaved by your class. Unrealistic? Not at all. Your just that good, if you want to be that good. Its your story anyway. Or you could play a conventional sword and board adventurer who will like the discipline of the Imperial Legion and camaraderie of the Companions. Or some nerdy mage that doesnt give a s*** about unintellectual stuff like wars.Just follow your mood. Best turnoff quote I had from one of my guild unerlings: "You're much better suited for such a menial task, don't you think?" I thought it was strange that my seniors who have been slogging for years in their guilds allowed me to become boss within a few days of joining. They've been taking me for a joke all along !! Damn. dudlete
I created my first character as an all-knowing sort of guy, despite knowing that he would consistently break roleplay. But I did it anyway as I needed the preparation for future DLCs, if any of the current storylines were to be extended upon. imo, it is the most time-efficient way to play. As far as lore is concerned, canon-wise, there would be separate characters that exist alongside each other; one for each faction. There would be a character that went on to become the Listener for The Dark Brotherhood, another that became the Archmage of Winterhold College etc, because it makes no sense for one character to be a master of all. The most canon-like approach for the main storyline would be Male -> Nord -> Two-Handed or One-Handed with Shield -> Dragonborn -> Stormcloaks -> Greybeards, with no other factions involved. Battlemage92
I gotta say, thanks to everyone who posted their advice to me in this. But i went into a bit of the Dark Brotherhood storyline. And on the plus side, I've got to admit that even though my character is a no-morals kinda guy, i found my own morals were strained in this endeaver, my own fears exacted upon. It felt good tbh. I felt imeresed in the story through my character. And because I made this character to be an alter-ego representation of myself... Even though my character was not morally challeneged, I was and that took me rather than the on screen non-existent guy on a journey. This is what a game should do. I've got to say that, I'll do all the storylines with the one character, and see where this all leads me. Through the eyes of the on screen Battlemage, I've seen, in his shoes; i've walked and with his heart bound to mine, I've felt. This is the experience. The type of experience, role playing games should offer. Hard choices, that strain at your heart and mind. I felt like I was there. Not a ghost, but there actually there. Crying and in turmoil inside while I was forced to Slice Vittoria Vicci's head from her sweet body, her wedding dressed stained to the point where I felt undying hatred towards Astrid. No woman should have to face such terror on such a day as her wedding. And yet Astrid cared little. I for a moment pulled the 'Holy Master' blade and thought about attacking her. But thought better of it. (mainly coz the game calls her 'invincible :( ) Anyways, if that little moment can bring about the emotions and feeling and experience of the above... Then I must say that, becoming attached to my character, walking with him through every turn in his 'somewhat' forced game life has benefitted me as a player. And helped me further enjoy this wonderful game :D Thanks everyone, hope to hear from you again :)
