awesome!! glad to see you still are thinking about an xbox release too! the other day i kind of randomly stumbled upon the thread you started in the beth.net community Mod RELz and WIP forum from a while back and thought we had lost our chances haha. To be fair to console users, that site is kind of a disaster and i don't think a lot of people even know about the community forum.

Anyways just wanted to say that this looks incredible and thanks for all the hard work you're putting into this. I know a ton of console users would love this, obviously myself included

Just a "small" idea : instead of being able to craft high-end weapon attachments, players have to find them around the Commomwealth. Only makeshift and low tech attachments are craftable.

That is an awesome idea and super realistic! That's definitely going into a realism mod at some point!

"You can never have too much reference material, so go ahead and post it if you like; thanks. :) It may help others if it's posted in the thread, but if you'd rather not have lots of people see it you could just e-mail or PM it to me if you'd prefer."

Alright, well you asked for it lol

This one is just the two rifles. As i said, one is a holo sight and one is magnified glass

These two are examples of how high the sights are actually mounted and why. In both i have a good solid cheekweld on the stock, which is shooter terminology for having the pocket of your cheek between your lower jaw and cheekbone wrapped around/anchored on the upper curve of the stock. Doing this allows you to keep yourself locked in behind the sights and not have to readjust for recoil everytime you fire the rifle. Although as you can likely see it also means that you have to mount the optics high to get them within your direct line of vision.

The pic from the side is also an example of eye relief, or how far in front of the shooter the optic is mounted. Eye relief is a two fold concept, on one hand (especially with magnified glass) most optics have a certain distance you need to be from the objective lens for the picture to be in focus. It also keep the rim of the scope from biting into your face when the rifle recoils xP

Anywho, hope its at least decent reference material. Like i said before, as an actual AR-15 shooter i figured i'd chip in and at least try to help

It's amazing what can be achieved (sort of) even with a minimum of tools.

This is something I've thought about. I don't know that I'd want to remove the ability to craft certain weapon mods since it hooks into a fairly important system in FO4, but I could perhaps have certain mods require schematics to craft. (Like the schematics for crafting certain ammo types I'm considering, as mentioned in the OP.)

Thanks for that. I've come across these concepts in my research, but sometimes I'm limited by things like needing to have every attachment work with every other attachment without them clipping through each other. As you can probably appreciate, there are a lot of potential combinations going on here.

really looking forward to this. not sure how feasible it is but I'd love to see something along the lines of hitman's NV 'check ammo/weapon condition' animations integrated with it, where you pull the mag out, inspect and slide it back into place for no other reason than it looks cool.

completely unessential but a nice little immersive touch if you're thinking of going down that route.

I like that sort of thing too. The sort of things you see in Escape From Tarkov or the STALKER Gunslinger mod. (Or the footage of them at least since they're not finished.)

Prior to FO4's announcement I was thinking it would be cool to have a character's reload animation (and jam-clearing animation/s) change as their Skill in the relevant weapon type increased. Have the character get faster at it and fumble less. So I suppose it would be an improvement per perk level now, with no jam animations obviously since Bethsoft took weapon durability out.

All these things are complicated and work-intensive, though.
