Wolf0529
So I've been exploring the creation kit and have made a few mods but I'm stuck on a few things. By the way I'm using a PS4 so I want the mods to be internal assets in this style: How can I modify textures on models like add institute paint to a T60 torso or even add a decal to a piece of armor? I've been meaning to ask but how can one add an item in the creation kit to a workshop to be able to be built in a settlement? These are my only two questions; if anyone can help me I'd be greatful to say the least. Thank you to anyone with tips and help on my trial and error
chucksteel
I can't say the textures will work but to do material swaps for PS4 using internal assets, Note: I've mostly done this with statics not armor or weapons and they may work differently, open the form for the item, locate the model used and click the edit button, In the new window you will see a material swap section near he middle of the window, click the contextual menu and set it to custom swap, a new window will open, Navigate to the Material.bgsm you want to try to use. select it and click ok. Save as new form. You will know right away if the texture works because you'll see the change in the preview window. For constructible items, it's best to look at how the vanilla ones work, it's going to depend on the type of item you want to create. For all of them you will need an item, and a Crafting Recipe. Depending on what you intend to do you may run into issues with objects not having snap points and they can't be added without external assets. genolune
I have to ask what are Materials? Are they meshes, textures, or something else?
chucksteel
Materials apply the textures to the meshes in FO4. Open a wall tile form in a cell, go to extras and you will see material swap. There you can change the texture that is applied to the mesh to get a different look.
genolune
Is that how you can cycle between pre-war and post-war textures on similar items?

genolune
Chuck, thanks again. Basically I can use this to quickly repair buildings in the creation kit. Once I look through my Children of Atom stuff I can help with the constructible object since I had to create a special radio beacon for the Children of Atom. chucksteel
If you select an object, hold shift + Alt and mouse scroll you can quickly change the material swap. (Only works on objects that have them) If you select an object, hold Alt and mouse scroll you will change the object to other objects in it's family. You will eventually get to new objects and families but objects like walls and floors tend to have around 11-12 different versions.
