Hi there,

I saw this question ask so many time that i took the time to make a step by step tutorial to make cubemaps the fast and easy way.

This is the workflow i used to get the job done in no time, first download both HDR shop and ATI cube map generator(both are freeware) then chose any image you like and open it in HDR shop then go to image(top menu) and choose panaroma/panoramic transformations, in the left side chose the latitude/longitude option in the drop down menu and now on the right side choose cubic environment vertical cross and click ok now save your newly created cubic environment to a folder of your choice.

Fired up ATI cubemapgen and select load cube cross(the image you generated with HDR shop)then click the check box for save Mipchain, now in output cube format chose DXT1 and select the output Cube size after click on filter Cubemap button just on top of output cube format and finally click on save Cubemap dds and you are done.

The whole process take me around 1 min to 2 min saving a whole lot of time and useless mouse click.

Ati cubemapgen download link : http://developer.amd...cgi/cubemapgen/

Ati cubemapgen modified version download link : https://code.google....apgen/downloads(This modified version even let you create HDR cubemap)

HDRshop free version download link : https://drive.google...2sxdS1CMDA/edit

Keep in mind that the ati cubemapgen is better than the nvidia photoshop plugin since ati is making a clean job artifacts free.

Hope this can help other speed up the process and grab these freeware before the link vanish.

Files downloaded, page saved so I can find it tomorrow. Thanks for the info!

You are welcome friend! I am also planning a very detail video guide on modding covering almost everything one need to know about nifskope, shaders and 3d custom model import+collision.

I have work 20 years in the gaming industry as 3d&2D artist and 7 years as a teacher in various gaming colleges in my area so i think it is time for me to give back to the community.

I will be anxiously waiting this. I was forced to retire due to age and have wanted to learn how to do this.

I will come here to announce it officially when the videos will be available.

Have a nice day!

  • 2 weeks later...

A little update regarding the image options in HDR shop, some image will work with latitude longitude but i discover that many pictures work best with cubic environment vertical cross as both choice in each window.

The easy way to see if the latitude longitude option work is if you cannot see any seam in the ATI cubemapgen if so then change the latitude longitude to cubic environment vertical cross and the seam should be fix.
