I just wish I could make that fewking woman in the Whiterun Alchemy SHUT UP I'm just there to sell fungus and mix some poisons and she just keeps going on and on! Seriously I've been in her shop when nightfall happens and her voice moves as she goes to bed, but it STILL keeps going! :wallbash:

Also, Vladimir Kulich as Ulfric Stormcloak and Max von Sydow as Esbern

;D I know what you mean! I had a Theives Guild job, where I had to steal a gemstone from her shop, and she was talking to me through the door while she was sleeping. I'm surprised she didn't catch me stealing. :P

Well it's a shame Lynda Carter isn't in there like Oblivion. Or is she? Wait she is! Thx to whoever posted the wiki link!. And how come all the accents are russian and not nordic? That's very annoying.. cept for big Arnie of course lol. Edited by Cranksthus

Too many regional accents for my liking.

And too many American colloquialisms - I cannot remember any off hand but some of the characters say stupid country bumpkin stuff like they're from the backwoods of some horrible little town in the US. Don't get me wrong, in Fallout, those voices worked perfectly. In Skyrim - this is a different thing.

Hate to say it, but the voices should have been English. I'm not just beating my chest and being territorial - but it's a fact. Can you imagine Game of Thrones acted in American accents? Look how stupid, and f***ing moronic, Season of the Witch was with Nick Cage...English crusaders in the 14th century running around Europe with modern American accents (to make it worse, the English actors also forced to use american accents)...

Just doesn't work for me.

The European accents are sometimes a bit annoying too - but slightly more believable, as you get the idea that these accents come from people who's native language wasn't "Skyrim-ish" (or English) - they feel region to the correct place. But the US accents and voices feel forced, overplayed, and downright ridiculous.

As I say, not an "ohh no americans" thing - its just certain characters and the phrases they utter which comes right out of some 50s american comic book.

And yeah, the little kids too...sound like pudding bowl haircut "first graders" straight out of kiddy acting school - horrible.

Arguably, some of the voices are game breaking sillyness - well, at least atmosphere breaking anyway.

I haven't played any other Bethesda games so I don't really have much to compare to. I would have to say I enjoyed Michael Hogan like everyone else, but Ulfric's VA was sub-par, he just cannot deliver an inspiring speech. I don't know if that is because of voice acting or the script written for him. The one that annoyed me the most was the talking dog. Though I supposed if a dog could talk he might sound like that.

I still think there are too few VA's in the game. On my latest playthrough (I think its my 6th) I finally got fed up with some of the NPC's. I killed Nazeem and the Talos priest as soon as I got to Whiterun. I had to kill Ahlam too but that was because she sent thugs after me for killing Nazeem. Whether Nazeem and the Talos priest were killed because their voice acting was bad - or because it was so good that it got on my nerves is something I am still debating (i.e. were they meant to be annoying?).

Having the Khajit talk like Puss'n'Boots from Shrek shows a certain lack of creative thinking. But if Bethesda was making them sound like that before Shrek was even released then I withdraw my objection.

I think that's where they got design for their trolls, too. Damn it, Bethesda has tricked me into playing a Shrek video game!

Something that should have been added to "the bad" is that the dovahkiin only has two sets of voices; one for each gender. No matter what race I chose, my dovahkiin sounds the same, and this is lame. I would have loved to hear how the dragon shouts would have sounded with different voices. Before I was aware of this limit, I created a high elf dovahkiin just to hear how Fus Ro Dah would sound in the "proud" and haughty high elf voice. Much to my disappointment, I knew my high elf was going to sound the same as my nord upon hearing his battle grunts. I hope Bethesda will add in the other voices for the dovahkiin (along with dragon shout voices as well) when they release their large dlc contents that aims at "improving" the game.

Actually, Khajiit always had that accent. Argonians had a similar accent too (Probably because it was the same voice actor), but it seems that was scrapped in Skyrim.

@redhorizon

The Khajiit have unique shouts. I think it's same with some of the Mer races.

But true, some of them sound the same. Argonians have the Imperial shouts, as an example.

Hmm, I wasn't aware that the Khajiits have unique shouts for I have yet to create a dovahkiin of that race. Thanks for pointing this out though. My next character will be a Khajiit then. However, this just reminded me of another thing I forgot to mention about character voices. Why couldn't Bethesda just make the player character completely unique in the voice section by giving the player character his/her own set of voice(s). Since Oblivion, I hated that my character sounded just like every other Nord, Imperial, Elf, Orc, Breton, Khajiit, or Argonian. Makes my character seem too generic.

If the voices should be English, then how will the English accent fit in with the races like Argonians, Nords, Orcs, Redguards, and Khajiits? I can see the High Elves (and maybe the Bretons to a certain degree) having the English accent, but not the majority of other races... especially the Orcs and Redguards. Unless certain characters grew up in a particular region, then yes I can see why their accents would be different from the typical locals of the regions.
