NorthWolf
Lots of paranoia in here. What they use for development probably isn't suitable for user consumption due to the necessity to both integrate Steam Workshop, as others have said, as well as the need to remove 3rd party software if they integrate any of that during development... as others have said. It also may simply not be as user friendly as they want it to be. In the end, people are just unrealistic about how much time it takes to program something and then do QA testing on it. They probably also have a good chunk of their team doing patches, which are multi-platform. That being said, I'm not particularly impressed by the wait time either and I'll be displeased if they don't release January, though the only thing that could really sour my mood is to have them release it and have it be as weak as previous iterations of their Gamebryo toolsets, but maybe I'm just cynical or have unreasonable expectations. etn84
Lets be real. I'm sure the CK is ready since months. Beth made the game with it and eventually taking 3rd party software couldn't take much time.I'm sure we have to wait 'cause steam can't get the steamwork integration right... You mean Bethesda cant make their program that they chose to integrate with Steam to work with Steam.
NorthWolf
very true. something like the ck takes a lot of time to get working, i think what most people are annoyed is how beth hyped us up about the possibilty of the ck being released with the game and then decided to take a vow of silence. its like telling a child youll give him a sweet if hes says the alphabet and once hes done you just walk away and give it to him three months later when his respect for you has gone. just sayin its kinda annoying hearing nothing off beth, thats prob the reason why people just start to make up theories about steam stealing our mods and s*** I've been waiting for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 for years now, so this is a relatively short wait. :teehee: That being said, yeah, it is annoying to have to wait for months for what I view as an integral part to all of Bethesda's games. I imagine they're going to get some pronounced backlash if they fail to release this month, and they'll deserve it entirely in my opinion. Wouldn't get paranoid about them doing anything crazy... just dragging their feet, or something.

If I'm going to have to compare Bethesda's track record to Valve's in terms of software quality and QA, I'm sorry, but Valve's going to win. Of course, at least Bethesda knows how to release a sequel which is a really, really great trait, but I'm not about to place bets that Steam is the bottleneck here. Also, the development kit they used was likely never intended for integration with Steam and was going to get converted sometime along the line. They probably rushed their release date and never got around to making the public CK release in time and are now scurrying to try to get their stuff together. I'll get annoyed but I won't care if they take a few months if they release something with a decent API and low enough access to make some non-negligible gameplay changes. But I've got a shrewd opinion about the power/utility of the Toolset/GECK in the past, dunno what to make of Skyrim. 747823
So basically you're saying: We don't get the source code for the game! I don't think you know what you're talking about at all... They use the creation kit to "design" the game. There probably aren't any other "tools" other than minor 3D stuff like their in-house NIF export tool. The other stuff is done by programmers...
