Ironman5000
I have just got Skyrim as a christmas present and got a new PC especially for the release of this game so that it ran smoothly. The best one I could get hold of had these specs; windows 7 64 bit. AMD athlon II X4 645 quad-core processor. AMD radeon hd 4250 graphics. 6gb DDR3 memory 2TB hard drive model is X3450. I think this makes for pretty damn good cpu but Skyrim's fps is absolutely terrible! I start a new game and the loading screen takes forever, with the dragon statue zooming in and out about 3-4 times before I get an intro sequence that lags like mad. I have looked at the 4gb enabler link and will give it a look through tonight, however if anybody has any alternative knowledge on how to get the most out of this machine that would be great. Give me any help in terms of lowering graphics settings (which I didn't think I would need to do), downloads or mods to boost fps, how to disable background processes, configuring the PC for gaming specifically and anything else you can offer. Please help I can't wait to get modding on this bad boy! EDIT: Keep in mind I installed yesterday via Steam (steam ugh!) so I imagine I have the latest patch. Colossus90
Game booster disables all the programs you dont use while in game. It might help you with some RAM issues. BTW I think they patched the game where it uses 4gb now. http://game-booster.en.softonic.com/

JimboUK
That GPU is very weak, you'll need to lower your settings.

It'll make all the difference, the rest of the PC is fine. Just make sure it has the correct PCI-e slot and power supply up to the job.
