terzho
It's weird because every bethesda game i've had. Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim have never really had the bugs that everbody says they have........maybe im just lucky :)
scot
I too am heartily sick of the random exits to desktop, not even an actual 'crash' that at least, would generate an error report so you could maybe figure out what went wrong, but nope it just ... exits ...no warning, no stutter, no error message just <poof> and your staring at your desktop. But I guess we'll just have to wait, and wait, and wait for BS to finally patch the game to playability, IIRC it only took a couple of years to get FO3 working right. 40-50 hours, no problems. After 100+, not so bug free. I'm only at level 29, and already experiencing the dreaded savegame bloat bug. I turned off all autosaving and uninstalled the few simple mods that were in use, but I get CTDs with increasing frequency. So I export what I can of my character into a new game to have some semblance of continuity, and now I am CTD-free for the moment. On one hand, having a refreshed world to do other quests in isn't so bad. But what's the point of a game trying to remember stuff if any kind of real extended play makes the game crash? Keeping the NPC/quest memory and ditching the rest would probably go a long way, but would make the game ridiculously easy. In Borderlands, I can play well over 100 hours and get to level 71 with no crashes, but there is little to no memory in the environment. Perhaps a happy medium between the two? There is the key I think, My first character killed a bandit not far from Honningbrew Meadery (?) when he was about lvl 3, now he's at lvl 71 and the bandits hand axe is still there on the road as is his buddies shield! I mean seriously, does the game really need to remember that! Or running past the guard tower where you kill your first dragon and every time I do, a dragon skeleton pops out of nowhere and bounces around on the ground! It's been so long that it should have decomposed naturally by now! The manual actually even warns you that leaving things in random barrels is risky because things may not be there when you get back, but I have never had a single item go missing! My lvl 71 toon has tens of thousands of gold worth of stuff in the barrels just outside the blacksmith in Whiterun and nothing is ever missing. A simple in game mechanic could be - Whiterun Guard " someone could trip over this and hurt themselves" <sigh> "I guess I have to clean this up, <sigh> I wish I hadn't taken that arrow to the knee, I never had to clean up when I was adventuring" Or if you drop it or store anywhere that isn't designated "yours" (like beds are marked as 'owned') you lose it - period - Even a little message could appear at the top of the screen " A thief has stolen some of the items you left at <insert cell id name here>" Problem fixed! Now the game doesn't have to 'remember' every butterfly wing you drop And remember that bethesda said if we dropped stuff other characters would pick it up and return it to you or even fight each other for it... That doesn´t happen in my game -.- I have this feeling that the only people who have crash to desktop problems are the 32 bit users because they made this patch for 64 bit users and now it crashes. My solution will be upgrading my RAM and turn my windows 7 to 64 bits wich I am going to do regardless of this problem. Before the patch 1.3.10 I could play for a day without crashing to desktop on ultra, now it doesn´t even matter if I turn my game on low settings without mods, it still crashes to desktop, so damn annoying I want to play skyrim but I can´t cause of the crashes getting more frequent -.-
gigantibyte
Ironically I kind of "like" that, because what Oblivion and Fallout 3 would do, is crash, but stay on the screen and deny you access to your dekstop to shut it down Bethesda - We can't stop the random crashes, but we can give you a better crash experience.

So I guess that mammoths can fly because BS was to lazy to properly test the placement routines ... and bread rolls bounce and jiggle on a plate like they are posed by a poltergeist because BS couldn't be bothered fixing the crash detection routines ... and giants can insta-kill a player with one hit, but dragons can't because BS couldn't make the effort to balance damage and resistance formula's ... and the fact that It's just ridiculously unstable and completely unoptimized (even on a modern, relatively high end system that runs graphically intense game like Crysis 2 easily) with memory leaks and wholes all through the game code ... Are all just Bethesda "Game Features" ? :ermm:

I've only encountered it once, but sometimes, when you drop junk items within sight of a guard (perhaps any friendly NPC) they walk over, pick the object up, and hand it back to you, saying, "You dropped this. You're lucky, someone else might have walked off with it." Really Bethesda? I mean, maybe it makes sense if your sword gets knocked out of your hand in combat, but it's never played out that way for me.
Nirrtix
I think people have every right to complain. This new patch 1.3 has ruined my FPS. Turning off shadows does not work anymore. Thanks Bethseda. I paid $60 and cannot play the game anymore.
kevinwastaken
If you don't complain about problems with the products you pay for, I don't think it's an off-base insult to state this obvious truth: you are an absolute braindead moron. You should pay me to be your friend. Then when I kick you in the balls every time I see you, don't complain because being your friend is a labor of love. macole
DO YOU REALIZE HOW BIG THIS GAME IS. This lame excuse for shoddy workmanship is repeated over and over again and I'm tired of hearing it. Let's say you have a job, try using that excuse for poor performance. You're not going to keep your job very long that's for sure. Look at the some of the bugs found in Skyrim, the flying saber cat bug for example. I know for sure it was in Oblivion too. How long ago was that, six years. When the same bugs appear game after game I tend to be very disappointed and become irritated when referred to as an idiot because I voice my opinion. Three or four bugs is three or four too many for the price paid.

Yup, same thing happened to Radscorpions in FNV and pretty much everything in FO3 at one point or another.I had an Orc, I mean Mutant just turn into silly-string and start flapping all over the place non-stop and eventually just fly off into the sky somewhere. I've fast traveled in Oblivion, FO3, FNV, and SKyrim and have seen Creatures literally come crashing down out of the sky.The ProtectoTrons being the worst, because they sounded like a dump truck full of empty cans being dumped. The games recreate the scene. With the Fallouts I constantly encounter creatures dropping from the sky whenever I fast travel to a previous battlefield. I've also had killed Mutants rocket launching to the great unknown. I guess I kind of got used to it when firing up Skyrim. When I first saw a sabre cat taking off I just kind of took it as natural. So far I haven't been hurt by crash landing creatures. Others don't seem to be as lucky.
