gigantibyte
Yes, people have a right to complain when a product is faulty. But complaining on a forum that is focused on modding those products and complaining about it without any positive message in their comments is not going to get you far. I have more faith in the modders here in fixing Skyrim's bugs than Bethesda. And even though Bethesda has their own forums, I rarely see them address any of the issues that are brought up, and it's more likely dissenting threads will get locked or deleted. When they do make a news release, it's as if they are living in a bubble wearing rose-colored glasses.
Hosam
This was my first Bethesda game, and it might be my last - I am not sure yet. I love Skyrim but some of the bugs really get to me. Having to use a console command during 'The Fallen" because Vignar would not leave that companion building was horrible. My main source of continued frustration is any quest objective that requires you to follow an NPC or requires the NPC to be at a specific spot. Even worse is when a bunch of NPC's need to be at a specific spot, e.g. the Greybeards all have to be in the courtyard. NPC pathfinding is horrible and on many instances they will just stand still and chill out until you collide with them while sprinting. This seems to 'wake' them up but I often feel like I am herding cats. It seems to be such a persistent and pervasive problem and if someone told me that this issue occurred in all TES games I would not be surprised. Nirrtix
How many people here actually haven't bought the game? Or took it back to the store? You can't resell or take a steamworks game back (unless it's an unopened product). At this point I would take it back and buy a retail version that is not patched... oh, wait I bought it on Steam and downloaded it. Whenever you redownload the game, it installs patches weather you want them or not. I do not blame steam for this I blame Bethesda they arethe ones who obviously do not test their horrid patches before releasing them. Sad that the vanilla version of this game ran much better for me than the present version. After enduring Brink and this game, if they do not fix this soon, this will be the last game I buy that is developed by Bethesda.
Nirrtix
Beth works their asses of just for the gamers sake. There is no other company i love more than Beth, (and valuve and rockstar). This cracked me up, because it couldn't be farther from the truth. If Beth gave a flying toss about the "Gamers" rather than maximizing revenue, then they would have made Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim as PC exclusive titles, not the watered down consolized ports they were. Bethesda softworks was built up from the support of PC gamers, that's how they got their foothold in the industry. But when they realized there was more money to be made from console gamers, they basically spat in our faces by creating cheaper and inferior products to what they would have been if released originally for PC. In fact they care so little, that they couldn't even bother making us a proper (usable) PC UI for Skyrim or Oblivion. It's not about pride of workmanship, it's all about money. They don't care at all that their product could have been 10 times better than what it is, and any satisfaction that could come from that, they only need keep a satisfactory standard so they can maximize revenue. There was once a time where developers valued quality of quantity, and that time was when they had no choice, they had to create something good and unique, so that people would begin to support and trust them. But like all developing parties these days, as soon as they have established themselves in the industry, it becomes all about money. Let's take another one of your favorite developers "Rockstar" ... They have followed the exact same path, if not started this trend of corporate greed in the gaming industry. The Grand theft Auto series was made exclusively for PC and was very successful, up until they saw higher potential revenue in consoles, resulting in the degenerative state of the series today. Up until this day, Rockstar have literally boycotted the PC community by denying us possibly one of their best titles (Red dead Redemption) which sparked a lot of hatred for the company, the sole reason of course being they simply don't care, as long as they get paid. The fact that they watered down the games for the PC so they could make it for the consoles is probably the source of the problems in the game on the 360 the PC and PS3. They did it all in a lazy fashion. They obviously do not test their games or patches that well.
redhorizon09
Let me just say this first,im new here and i am not really ranting at the users of this forum. You guys are really great with intelligent and sensible arguments about Skyrim, well as far as i know atleast.. That being said.... what is wrong with all these idiots complaining about a couple of bugs. DO YOU REALIZE HOW BIG THIS GAME IS. Of course there are going to be bugs, and there always will. Beth works their asses of just for the gamers sake. There is no other company i love more than Beth, (and valuve and rockstar). Some games dont even have 30 hours of playtime. Beth games have hundreds, EVERY SINGLE GAME HAS HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF PLAYTIME. So why do people complain about a company that pours out there hearts and souls into each game. FYI skyrim's soundtrack has brought tears to my eyes. The only other game soundtrack more beautiful is final fantasy series. Nobou Uematsu is a beast. I'm assuming that you're ignorant of PS3 issues to where the game was practically unplayable. I play on the PC, but my brother (who isn't into PC gaming) plays on the PS3 and I saw how his version of Skyrim was unplayable by running at maybe 1-5 fps because of bugs. What's more? It's not fun when there were (and probably still are) many quests that couldn't be completed because of bugs.

gigantibyte
Yeesh. PC players have to put up with a game was thumbed down (or kept from excelling) to make it more compatible for outdated console play, and now console players are mocking us? :wallbash: Edited January 4, 2012 by gigantibyte
DrakeTheDragon
Well, and half a year back when I stood up and stated my disappointment over Bethesda giving this fixed release date 11-11-11, out of the blue, only because it sounds nice, that this will only lead to an incomplete and bug-ridden game and that I'd always prefer a "finished" game which is released "when it's done" over a pre-maturely released, untested and unfixed construction site of a software released at exactly 11-11-11, no matter if it's done and working by then or not, I was just laughed at and ridiculed, offended even, for making such a hilarious statement... and now, what did you all get? Not to sound egocentric or anything, but... "I told you". Honestly, I'm only watching my brother play on his 360 sometimes, as I can't afford enough free time to play a game myself anymore, but it still feels like we're some sort of "beta-testers"!...no, scrap that, it's not even in beta-testing state, yet, it's alpha... pre-alpha, even... no, scrap that again, that'd degrade my own pre-alpha test-release of a mod which so far hasn't received even remotely as many negative feedback as this so-called "product". Look, I'm not saying there won't be bugs in a game as complex and huge as this... but really, in the inoperable state it currently is in this software should have never left the development lab that insanely prematurely, just to meet a completely phantasized fixed release date!I'm in software development myself, and I assure you, would I present my boss a product as obviously unfinished as this is, I'd be "fired" in no time! In retrospect, maybe 2 or 3 additional months would have been suffice already. Maybe they would've been able to get things stable and beyond "broken" state by then "prior" to release, and now they won't have to release that bloody many bugfixes "in a rush", just to please the rightfully displeased crowds (we're talking of millions of customers here, mind you, not just some small number), and in turn, as is always the case with rushed jobs, break yet even more things during the process! All it needed was a little more time before release... and, by The Nine, I'd so gladfully wait for March or April 2012, if just I'd get a "finished" game this time! ...well, 'nough said. I'm tired of ranting... it's so unusual to me still... and I don't enjoy it at all. (Can't imagine how people can go on ranting endlessly day by day without going crazy!... or maybe they have already?) I just felt like bringing this up again, my 2nd comment to the matter, after half a year of only watching, maybe even my last one, don't know. Go figure. gigantibyte
@DrakeTheDragon Nice rant. Not sure I agree with all of it, though. You make the assertion that the game is buggy because of the fixed release date, but I don't know if a few more months would have helped. Time will tell if a few months of patches brings the game to your desired finished state. But I'm happy to take the game, as is, on time, because come April/March, Borderlands 2 will be released. 'nuff said. I totally disagree that the game is "inoperable", and that stuff about Skyrim being less than pre-alpha. I mean, come on. That's troll bait right? And if I turn in a unfinished product to my boss, that becomes the company's highest selling product ever regardless (well, at least on Steam), I'd think a raise and promotion would be in order.
