Favorite Fallout 4 Weapon?

If only there was enough .44 ammo around, I'd use it exclusively.

BTW, have you tried just manufacturing it? With the expanded manufacturing mod, things are a lot less frustrating. Of course, you have to have a lot of settlements with brahmin and scavengers, for it to really do you much good.

ALTERNATELY, you can always get one of the .45-70 revolver mods (I think at least one of them lets you "upgrade" a .44 to .45-70, by basically changing everything but the barrel on it), and buy your ammo from FH. They sell that by the hundreds over there. More than enough to keep a low-ROF revolver fed.

My personal favorite right now is my plasma infused radium rifle. Free nuclear material and its thematically appropriate for the Children of Atom, more so than the explosive one anyway.

Along the same lines, I've grown fond of Freezing on high ROF weapons like a minigun or the MAC-11. With my old-style criticals mod, well, when you let it rip with a couple hundred bullets, you've got to get at least one critical and freeze them solid.

@OP

this is a fun thread! thanks for sharing

there are a couple which are tied for favorite -

on indulgence, I'll put them both as one is melee and one is ranged.

of 'vanilla' parts, thanks to the Any Mod Any Weapon; (an awesome mod)

stunrippa2.png

Above: "Stun Ripper" - shem drown's sword + electric stun pack + pickman's blade+ krevmh's tooth + extended ripper = 215 dmg + 155 electrical + 38% chance of stun per attack.

In survival, this is still a nice weapon even if it chews through mr handy fuel something chronic.

alienfusionblaster4.png

Above: Goodman's Grue-Bleen Blaster

alien blaster + fusion mag + improved automatic barrel + ~20% chance of vaporization or goo puddle per bullet etc... it's a portable plasma-minigun that weighs around 3.5lbs.

its name is accurate, because the game can't decide to render green puddles or blue lazer-ash piles...

sometimes it does one or the other, rarely, both.

probably the best sidearm for survival mode and one of the best damage per carried weight weapons in the game.

there is also the Pipe weapons and concept pipe shotgun mods - lots of fun.

the mk22 50cal gun - VERY fun.

the xm73 gauss redo - thanks! it's the old gauss gun from FO2 and FONV but more awesome!

the 'that gun' mod...

also, the MIB weapons pack, real fun! sometimes you just want that sleek 50s pulp sidearm.

the Buck Rogers weapons pack, sometimes you just need those extra parts to customize your liberator shotgun look.

and the 'Bring Forgotten Weapons to FO4" mod projects get honorable mentions -

all weapons from the YT channel "forgotten weapons" being ported to games, its an ambitious mod project and something I cannot support more hehe.

----

thanks for reading,

and thanks for all the ideas in this thread!

I look forward to seeing what other folks come up with for their custom sidearms etc.

  • 3 weeks later...

The Dude with OSOK ammo, used sparingly for those long distance kills, a silenced R91, modded and using explosive ammo for general use and for indoor work, either a combat shotgun or a Desert Eagle.

I've found all weapon classes having their use except for pistols, bad at sniping, average for medium/close combat, supposed to be good in vats but they aren't really (in survival I mean) because of their weak dmg/shot compared to a rifle for example. If had to choose I'd take an explosive radium rifle scoped and silenced (or the unique version): uses .45 common ammo, good for any situation/combat range and benefit from very a wide range of perks (sniper, demolition expert, nuclear physicist, gun fu,...), one weapon to kill'em all!
